Just signed Cliff Lee to a 5 year, 100 Million dollar deal.

Congrats to all Phillies Fans! Enjoy the trophy next season...

Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt.. not fair!!

hmmmm....well, Lee couldn't get past the Giants (twice!). Not sure the addition of him to that bullpen is such a sure thing.....no doubt -very strong arms though.

:cool1::banana:
he could have went for more money but he came back to the phillies Can't Wait for the season to start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't see that coming. Well as a Yankee fan I am happy he didn't go to Texas. and yes I was depressed about that news today.
Congratulations Phillie Phans.
Poor Mets.

I was just gonna post this. I was so sad last week to see Jayson go then woke up to this on the news this AM!! Wahoo:banana::banana:

I thought my husband was trying to punk me this morning.

Pinch yourself, Phillies fans.

What used to be fantasy has now become reality.

Cliff Lee, even after being offered more money by the American League champion Texas Rangers and the 27-time World Series champion New York Yankees, has decided to sign with the Phillies.

That's the kind of Philadelphia story most of you probably thought you'd never read.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said early Tuesday morning that he could neither confirm nor deny the deal, but rumblings about the Phillies' involvement in the Lee bidding started early Monday night, and just before midnight, MLB.com reported that the Rangers had been told that the veteran lefthander was signing with the Phillies.

Lee will receive a deal reportedly worth around $100 million over five years with a sixth-year vesting option. His agent, Darek Braunecker, did not return phone calls from The Inquirer. The 32-year-old lefthander went a combined 12-9 with a 3.18 ERA with Seattle and Texas last season and has a career record

Interestingly enough, our problem in the 2010 Post-Season wasn't pitching. I'm very excited that Cliff Lee is back (didn't want him to go in the first place), but unless we decide to start hitting more consistently, we're going to see a lot of 2-1 losses.

Pardon me if I'm not ready to string up the banners just yet...but I'm crossing my fingers. :thumbsup2

Don't count your chickens ................ Lots of teams making lots of moves.

There are 162 games, he can't pitch them all and well injuries happen.

I am happy with the moves Sox are making.

It is not any one player, but the team that can stay consistent & healthy.

OH BTW Go PATS!!!

The simple fact that the Yankees didn't get what they wanted makes me happy!

Yeah, but when he's not pitching, that means that Halladay, Oswalt, or Hamels probably are. ;)

I am a Braves fan, but I detest Yankee fans (collectively). I like the team - great players - but the fans are the most obnoxious of any team in any sport that I have come across. (They make Bama fans look humble. :lmao:) This deal doesn't help the Braves, but I can support anything that shuts up Yankees' fans. :thumbsup2

If the Phillies can get their bats going again, they will be huge favorites next year. Still, I have learned that the favorite rarely wins in MLB. So, if I were a betting man, I would not bet on the Phillies winning the WS next year. That said, they almost certainly will win at least once in the next few years. As a baseball fan, that is all that you can reasonably hope for.

SWEET!!!!:woohoo: I just heard the news from DH and I can't believe it. My 9 and 7yo were jumping up and down and hugging each other.:yay::hug: You would think we just told them about our upcoming trip.:rotfl: I knew someone would have posted already on the boards.

This is so true.:thumbsup2 Their offense was so flat this year, except in Sept. They just died in the post season.:sad2: If their offense is at least consistent, then they're golden.:thumbsup2

I totally agree!:lmao:

I can't guarantee another World Series win, but I'm still going to Disney World!:cool1:

Go Phightins!!:cheer2:

:confused3 Did you read the story about the Phillie fan puking on a cop and his family on PURPOSE? And did you know that Phillie stadium has a booking desk downstair to process all those they get arrested at the game. So I think that Phillies fans are the worst around.
