Flying American from Hartford to Tampa on Saturday and we have a 40 minute connection in Philly.. . Just looked online and of course the two gates at this point are super far apart: one is terminal B and one is terminal F. How long of a walk is it from B to F?
We can hustle if we have to bc everyone is mobile, but I prefer not to be legitimately running with my 70 year old parents and my 2 kids in tow lol.
Thank you!

B to F is about a mile or so. Figure 15-20 minutes depending how fast you walk. However, I believe if you walk to terminal F you’ll need to go through TSA to get into terminal F.

There’s also a shuttle that’ll take you from terminal A and terminal C to terminal F and you don’t need to go through TSA. So you could walk to which either is closer to where you land at B and take it. I’m not sure how long you’d have to wait for it though.

That’s gonna be a tough transfer-I’d call and see what alternatives exist.

From what I see looking online, there doesn't seem to be many options. I did not initially book 40 min connection, the airline changed my flight times. I'l try to call.

Update: I called, no other options with 6 seats available. So I'm stuck with it.

OP let the flight attendant know , they should be able to direct you to the shuttle. PHL is our home airport and I recall attendants talking about shuttles to other terminals before landing. Terminal F is where the smaller jets come in so getting people over to the other terminals is a regular occurrence.

AA minimum connect time for this airport shows as 30 minutes. Definitely let the FA know that you have a tight connection and some slow walkers, ask where to go to pick up the shuttle from your arrival gate.

Thank you! Yes, I'm going to let them know and ask about the shuttle. I do not want to miss my connection!

Are you transferring to an American or American Eagle flight? If the latter, especially, it’s likely to be a regional jet. Those are a bit smaller and not known for having a lot of overhead baggage spaces. Please plan acccordingly. You also want to sit as close to the front of the aircraft on your first leg.

We fly thru PHL a couple of times a year, regional jet coming and going from F with B and A connections to points south.

40 minutes is a very tight connections. I don’t say that lightly or to be dramatic. I personally don’t want a PHL connection less than 80 minutes. We have made many a 55 minute connections when times were changed but I don’t like them.

PHL is a long and narrow airport. You can walk between F and all other terminals without needing to clear security again but it is a very long walk. Last time I watched the clock, it took us 21 minutes from doors open at F to arriving at our B gate and that was sitting in the front row and moving at a very brisk pace.

We always take the shuttle between F and B/C. The signs are well marked and the shuttles run constantly.

Considering the outbound flight doors will close 10-15 prior to departure, your connection is more like 25-30 minutes. Be prepared to move. Deplane and hustle, don’t stop for coffee or a pee break. Get straight to the gate.

Thank you. We will shoot for shuttle. Transferring from an American Eagle flight. Trust me, I wouldn't choose a 40 min connection. They changed flight times. Originally it was more like 90 min. I'm super anxious about it so there will definitely be no stopping for anything - just booking it from one to the other. We are in row 10. Plane looks full so no moving up, but first 5 or 7 row seem to be smaller, so less ppl to get out. The family all have been told - no stopping. My 7 year old is the potential weak link as his asthma is acting up so he can not exactly run or walk too briskly without hacking. No one wants to miss this connection bc the next flight out with space on it isn't til 9pm according to the guy I talked to yesterday.

Exactly! I felt so relieved once we got to it. Thank you!

We made it to the second flight as they were starting the boarding. The shuttle was pretty quick and then we just hustled through the terminal to our gate. On the plane now. Whew. Thanks! Florida here we come!

Any tips to share?! I have a similar connection in PHL. Arriving in Terminal F and need to get to Terminal B. 40 min layover. EEEEEK
