Phasing out AK Meal Plus Certificates?

When I bought Meal Plus certificates at AK on 7/1, the cashier had to ask a manager to bring some out to her. As we waited for him to return, she explained to me that they aren't automatically stocking them by the register anymore, as Disney has decided to stop offering them. She said there had just been a meeting where the CM's had been told this (she implied that she had been told that day, but was just unclear enough that I can't say so with confidence). She didn't know if there would be a specific cut-off date, or if they would simply stop when all the existing certificates had been sold. The promos that are usually by the cash registers are gone now, too. That's too bad, as it was a great deal (maybe too good?). I wonder what Disney's reasoning is behind the change - if it has anything to do with the new dining add-on (whereby the Meal Plus would be redundant), or something else.

(I just got back and don't have the energy to search and see if this has already been discussed; my apologies for any repetition.)

Those were a good deal. I hate to hear the certificates are going away.
