So it's going to be me, DW and DD going in December. If I add another 15 year old child, I would have to pay for their ticket, but we would get their free dining credits as well right? We could save the ticket for another trip, but the dining credits the 3 of us could use?

There would be no ticket to save for future use. It's a length-of-stay ticket that is only good during your hotel stay.

In theory, yes....But you could instead just go rob your bank for the needed $$ for your trip too...Another option to consider.

I would enjoy more opinions on that, but it's definitely not what I've read on the site or heard on the pod cast. My understanding is that we separate the ticket from the key to the world card and then if we don't use the ticket at all, it's still good even years from now.

Yeah... Thats not correct. The ticket is valid 14 days from first use. You could do what you want to do in theory, but the front desk could ask all members of your party to be present at check in. This probably is not something that should be discussed on this forum since it would be taking advantage of the promotion.

If lying and stealing is your thing, it might work.

Gee... you are so nice to call me a bank robber and a lier and a theft. I am sure personal attacks are off limits on this board. If you think what I'm doing is wrong, please tell me - but calling people names shouldn't be tolerated on these boards.

I know when they first started free dining several years ago people were doing this so often that they DID require all members of your party to be a check-in. I haven't heard that this is the case anymore. I also remember people were getting rooms they never used just to get free dining and I don't think thats seem to be an issue anymore.

I am guessing most people decided it was more trouble than it was worth, especially since they changed free dining so it no longer included tips and appetizers.

Would you get away with it, maybe, would it be worth the effort, who knows, would I do it, no.

Yup, It's wrong

That is why in the fine print, it says that you must have all memebers of your party present at check-in. WDW could and should ask more often about this to prevent people trying to get around the system.

It is wrong to do what you are thinking, and does come close to trying to steal from the Disney company. You are trying to get a lot of dollars worth of free meals that you are not entitled to. Why would you think that is ok?

Anyway, during Free Dining the CMs are pretty aware of what is going on. At check in they are known for asking to see everyone listed on the reservation, because too many people were trying to do what you are thinking about doing. And they will probably notice right off the bat that you are missing a child.

It is wrong. Don't do it.

For all the free dining, buy 4/get 3 free deals of the past few years we always bought the fewest park ticket days needed (usually 1 day tickets) as we've either had APs or some old non-expire 10 day tickets. We still have many of those 1 day tickets and as a previous poster said, they are valid tickets. We use them as "deposits" on new APs or new 10 day passes - but they are valid 14 days from first use.

I have heard stories where the front desk clerk will ask to see all members of the party at check in before releasing the tickets. They have never done this to me - but I have traveled a dozen times to WDW and always have my DW and DDs with me. When I make a reservation, they know their names and their ages - so they know my history. If I suddenly added a 3th child to a ressie that was not an infant, maybe they would flag the ressie to make sure I really had a 3rd child with me. Not sure.

I see you banner states the trip is to celebrate a new foster child. Congratulations!

That said, if the child is not coming with you, its unethical to add him or her to the reservation.

I find this question similar to the following: A DVC member who has a family of 4 (lets say its a DH, DW, 2 kids over 10 years old) uses their points to get a villa. Since a DVC reservation does not get free dining, they also rent a room at a Value resort. Pay $80 for the room and get $170 worth of free dining (lets assume its the old dining plan where you get the normal dining plan for free). I almost confronted this issue head on as I booked a bounce back free dining at POP (so I am getting the regular free dining under the old rules). I booked it last August and am going in a few weeks. In the interim, I bought DVC on the resale market. I was thinking of splitting my stay between POP and a DVC - but should I keep the POP ressie for the full trip to get the free dining? I decided it would not be ethical. So I decided to save the DVC points for a future trip and stick with the original plans.

Pardon? Are you not lying and stealing if you do this?

Actually you are the one who is incorrect. If the OP doesn't use the ticket it's good forever. Still think it's overall a bad idea OP since during free dining the sometimes request they whole party at check in to prevent this thing from happening. Plus it's really unethical to boot.
ETA: I think people are misunderstand the 14 day rule on tickets. If the OP has it taken off the room key & hard ticketed as long as he does not use it at any turnstyle it is not activated so the 14 day rule does not start because it's not an active ticket.

The prior poster did not call you a bank robber, it was just a suggestion that you rob a bank instead.

The other poster you insulted did not accuse you of being a liar and thief, but specifically said that if you were one it might work.

You have posted something that you know is improper and take umbrage by misinterpreting peoples comments that what you are doing is improper. And since the ticket you purchase could be used on a different trip what you are proposing is theft of service.

So if anybody is making personal attacks here it is you.

I am not really seeing the lying cheating and stealing part. He pays for a ticket, he gets a ticket. With that ticket comes a set of meals. 4 tickets, 4 sets of meals. When he uses the ticket later, he won't get the meals. So still he paid for 4 tickets and 4 sets of meals.

CVS probably never expected folks to buy loads of stuff they had no use for just to get a lot of coupon dollars. That doesn't make it illegal. (though reselling all the diabetic meters could be)

He is lying about the child and stealing a product without fulfilling the requirements for the promotion.

Improper? This was suggested by a CM when I called to change our reservation and said that we may be one child less because my little sister may not be able to come with us and wondered how we would change our reservation as we may take another child or it may just be the three of us.

i concur...

What is he stealing? He paid for the child, even if it doesn't exist. He isn't going to get the meals when the ticket is used later.
