PF Changs-disappointing

We had lunch there today. We love it! :thumbsup2 Our's is so GOOD!! We've never had a bad meal. Our service has always been excellent too. I guess you've got a "sninker". ;) I find it hard to eat "regular" Chinese food. It's so "yucky" in comparison.

Yes, disappointing, but I didn't really expect much better given the price.

I have had many meals that were even cheaper than that that tasted much better. Any neighborhood chinese restaurant is better than Chang's.

The wait staff at the one we go to are very snooty. Snooty area so I'm not surprised. I guess my family is in the minority because we don't see the appeal of the lettuce wraps. They're ok, but nothing to rave about. Our favorite dish is the Mongolian beef. We've tried a few others that were not great.

I have always heard rave reviews about PF Changs and decided to give it a try.

What a disappointment! Bland food. Tiny servings. Expensive.

Everyone RAVES about their lettuce wraps, however after trying them I am convinced that the ones I make at home are just as good, if not better. :thumbsup2

We have always had great food & service at the two near us. We love their lettuce wraps and the eggplant/ground chicken dish. We always get the shrimp dish that has melon in it...wow! good.

What I find funny is that some people are saying, in effect, you can't expect it to be very good given the cheap prices. Then others say it is overpriced and expensive. I'm kind of on the fence about PFC. It's OK, nothing to write home about. Not worth the 2 hour wait on weekends, that's for sure! And I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't see what the big deal is with the lettuce wraps! Like someone else mentioned, I like the apps/sides better than the entrees. My favs are the lo mein and the asparagus.

We're going there tonight. DD11 is gluten-free and has been wanting chinese food, so we are giving it a try. Menu looks good!

I think it's okay. We don't eat there that often, it's located downtown and often has long waits, but when people invite us there we enjoy going. Our location has consistent good service and food.

When we go as a staff at work, we give them a price we each want to spend and ask them to bring us dishes. That was the BEST thing to do! I never would have tried to the wok lamb dish that is amazing... it's by far my favorite dish there. We just pass them around the table family style.

I think the portions are usually huge and at a fair price for the stuff. It's a fusion restaurant, so not easily compared to the local Chinese (which is not at all like authentic chinese) restaurant. Our has decent lunch specials, even on Sundays, so that was a nice surprise the last time we went.

We probably eat at Pei Wei a lot more often. Easier to get to and a little cheaper.

Interesting that people's experiences are so varied. I've been to 3 or 4 different PF's and never had a bad meal or bad service. Servers always make great recs and I've been compted aps several times. Maybe it's because as a former server, I am crazy friendly with them.

I'm going to looking into Pei Wei. Never heard of it.

We have a couple of PF Chang's in my area. One of them I absolutely love. The food is great!!

The other PF Changs, I don't like at all. They are all individually managed, and all have different chefs. You would think the food at all Changs would be the same, but it's not. At least not the two that I've been to.

I've been to several and they've also ranged from great to just okay. It's never been bad though.

Oh gosh, LOVE our PF Changs. We have two in our area and they are both awesome!! It's my favorite place!

Orlando had good food and snooty servers.

Ditto on the Orlando experience. I think I left less than a 5 percent tip there due to a snooty waiter. :thumbsup2

Orlando is our local PF Changs and we eat there all the time! We've had some not so great experiences with the servers, but we've always had great experiences sitting at the bar to eat - the bartenders are all super friendly! If you eat there again, try sitting at the bar instead!

Our last three times haven't been great though. We tried to go tonight and the wait was two hours for a party of four (it is saturday night but we've never normally waited anything like that like!); we tried to go this past sunday and they were having issues in the kitchen and weren't accepting anyone else in (this was at 8PM!) and the time before that I got really, really sick after eating the dynamite shrimp. We might try again this week!

I enjoyed a PF Changs that we tried in our area. I got a spicier dish and while it wasn't overly spicy it was good.

we went tonight! I don't normally like chinese food because the stuff I've seen at most places is fried, greasy, and just turns my stomach. a few months ago I decided to give pf changs a try and so glad I did! I like it a lot.

we got lettuce wraps (yum!) and I got favorite dish, mandarin chicken. sooo good.

I have heard before that not all pf changs are created equal, though. glad the one nearest me is good!

We love PF Changs! They have the best wonton soup! We also get the crispy honey chicken (which you can also get at Pei Wei).

Pei Wei is a nice alternative to the long waits and higher prices of PF Changs.
For any one visiting Orlando, there's a Pei Wei at the Loop shopping plaza, off Osceola Pkwy and John Young Pkwy. It's 1.50$ on Osceola Pkwy, but you can take 192 as well, and jaunt north for free. There's also several other yummy places for eating in the two plazas. BJs, Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, Chili's, Red Brick Oven pizza, Chipolte, Panera Bread, Johnny Rockets, Perkins, Logan's, Mimi's Cafe, 5 guys burger. There's actually a lot of food choices at that intersection, on every corner.

I prefer Pei Wei more anyways, although they don't have the garlic noodles. My favorite is the Crab Wontons. And I'm happy with the mongolian beef kids meal for 4$. When I eat there with my aunt and grandmother, we usually get the beef with noodles, sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, and crab wontons and share it all. Even though it's a little cheaper, it's still a treat to eat there.
