Pete's 9 Minute Red Sauce...

Or the New Jersey variation - gravy.
LOL - Bone of contention. My BIL (who is Italian, from CT) used to say "macaronis and gravy" to denote ANY type of pasta with red sauce. And yet I've met MANY other Northern Jerseyans of Italian descent, or even those actually FROM Italy who call it "spaghetti (or whatever pasta) and sauce. And others who insist if it's slow-cooked all day on the stove at Nona's house for Sunday dinner it's gravy, otherwise it's sauce. So - I'll just keep calling it toe-may-toe. :rotfl2:

By the way - when my BIL would ask me what kind of Italian I was calling it sauce (or other verbiage bones of contention between us, like the pronuncation of mozzarella, among other things), I'd answer honestly and say "A Russian Ukranian one - got a problem with that?" ROTFL

We call it sauce unless there is meat in it, the it's gravy.

Here it's sauce or marinara if no meat; if there's meat, it's meat sauce.
