Peter Pan's Flight?

I would add that I think you not only need to be among the first guests at the turnstiles, but you also need to be as far down Main Street as possible once you get inside of the park. I do think most people head straight down Main Street until they reach the rope, but there are temptations that can distract you (e.g., the shops, Starbucks/Main Street Bakery, etc.).

I think this summer has been a little unusual. Two Sundays ago, we got in line for PP 40 mins after Park opening. The wait was only 20 mins. After we got off, the wait for Dumbo was under 5 mins. In my mind, that was success as my DH just . can't. do. ropedrop. I'll gladly ride PP for a 20 wait, not a 45 min wait.

The family we went with, local AP holders mentioned however lighter this summer has been.

I remember getting at DL late and trying to cram in as many rides as possible after entering at 10:20 PM with a midnight closing time. We managed to do teacups, ITASM, Mr. Toad's, Dumbo before closing, and got in pine at Peter Pan's Flight just before midnight. While we were in line there were a few people who got in line after midnight and weren't told to get out of line. We waited, and waited, and waited. Once the ride ended up being reset without riders for a complete cycle of every vehicle through the ride. By the time we got on, it was about 12:45. I suppose with those lines, it makes sense to get there just before closing - if you don't mind waiting. At that time the line was still long there even though there was barely a line at those other rides.

There are trends but not very many things happens the same way every day. If something big and new happens at DL and the morning crowds are huge, then they sometimes open folks onto Main Street before the park opens even at 8AM just to get the turnstile lines reduced. Folks hate to show up at DL and see a line at the turnstile a mile long. Same thing for DCA, which is why they let folks into DCA early right after RSR opened.

:wizard:

I know this has been discussed before and the Park definitely does not open the same way every day. All 3 mornings that we started at DL were 8 am openings earlier this Summer, and all 3 of those days they let us in earlier for a Rope Drop at the Hub.

I agree though, that you need to be close to first at your turnstile if your goal is PP with a short wait. And get straight there, or right against the Rope if there is one.

I can't really add anything to the strategies that have already been mentioned, but I just wanted to say that PP is a must ride for me. The reason is that it is the only memory I have of my first trip to DL. I was maybe 6-7 years old, and I still have the image of "Flying" on that ride! We were there last April with our granddaughters, and I hope they will have a memory like that to bring them back!
