Yet ANOTHER reason that we should all try to buy organic...

....at least the produce that needs to be organic like berries, apples, and other thin-skinned fruits and veggies.

This is one area of my budget that I do NOT skimp. Sure, I shop at Goodwill for clothes and household goods (you get some great bargains there!!), do my own manicures, have basic cable, don't have a land-line telephone, etc., but whole, organic food is a top priority in our house.

The media's ability to take a small preliminary study and "run with it" to try and generate a media-driven health scare is mind-boggling. Repeat after me "correlation does not equal causation". I saw this on the TV at lunch today and I thought the news "crawler" at the bottom of the screen was pretty ironic as it dealt with the latest large scale evaluation of the another past media-driven health scare: "WHO announces no conclusive evidence found linking cell phones with cancer." Take the pesticide/ADHD news and let's call it "interesting" until we see if the results can be replicated and then replicated again on a larger scale. But absent that, I suspect that this will be yet another media "nevermind!"

I agree.

As a parent of one of two children with ADHD, I'm not sold on this and the statistics, to me, weren't very convincing. Not that I'm advocating/condoning pesticide use. I think it's awful. I just don't think it's the answer.

I hope you know that "organic" uses pesticides. Nice little tidbit to leave out of the article.:lmao:

Being a horticultural person, I know the "game".

Technically as long as the "organic" grower uses "organic" pesticides, it is considered "organic". The article was focused on malathion which is not organic.

Just a little FYI for all of the people out there that think they are getting pesticide free. It has to say pesticide free otherwise "organic" means they use pesticides.

As far as disease/conditions being linked to pesticides, well I am sure pesticide residue is not good for the human body, however the impact would be impossible to measure.

What you are talking about is pesticide residue, which are the binders and carriers left over after the pesticide dissipates. The pesticide itself becomes inactive after a period of time.

ETA....I would like to see a study of pesticide residue with organic eaters.
