Permission Letter

WE have brought along our children's friends on a few DCL cruises.....we had a letter stating we had persmission from both parents regarding taking their son out of the country and giving us persmission to seek medical attention.

The parents were married so it was easy for them to both sign. We also had the page from the documents signed as well. They had it notarized and DCL never asked to see it. Was the CM unhappy because only one parent signed? or was there another reason. We had no problems with this on 3 different cruises.

Now, when my DD was 18 and her friend was 17 and they were going to Cancun for senior trip.......that was a problem. Since the friend was only 17 she needed a letter signed by BOTH PARENTS but we did not know this (TA had not told them) until we were checking them in. Thank goodness I just did not drop them at the door. We had to track down the mom and dad (both at work) and get a letter typed up quickly and faxed to the other one so they each could sign, then get it faxed to the check in desk at the airline. They just made their flight!!!

Yes mkauffman this year, August 03, there was a form in the docs. Very handy because everything you need is on it. It only requires one parent signature and must be notorized. Its nice because it is one less thing to remember because it is part of your doc package.
