PerkTV App pausing?

I've been using the PerkTV app on my iPad for a while now. I usually let it run all night. In the last few days I have woken up in the morning and the screen has a pop up that says "Are you still watching?". At some point in the night (and during the day when we've used it) the app stops to see if its actually being used. Once you hit yes it resumes. Is this a new thing? It's really irritating b/c its taking much longer to accumulate points now.
Anyone else notice this?

Yes. It was rolled out gradually over the last couple of weeks. It's somewhat random but tends to kick in after anywhere from 3-6 hours of inactivity.
