'Perfect' Disneyland Forever viewing spot?

If we were prepared to put in the time to wait, what would be the best viewing spot for the Disneyland Forever fireworks - that also means you get to experience all of the other 'stuff' that happens during the show?

I've been reading the threads and trying to think of where we would want to be to see the fireworks, and the projections, and Tink/Nemo, the Matterhorn and get the snow, etc - and I can't get a good idea of where that would be or if it's even possible!

We will be at DLR for 10 days so will have time and could stake out a spot if needed. Or would it be better to see it a couple of times from different places?

There is no one place where you can see it all. You really do have to pick a focal point for the fireworks. We loved the projections on the castle over the ones on main street. Something about the castle is just magical and they are very well done. The main street buildings are neat too though. I think if you have the possibility of watching from multiple points then I'd do that but maybe find a place where you don't have to wait or hours - we saw people camped out 4 hours before hand which for us is just plane crazy unless you are locals and this is just what you are doing for the evening, but for us "once a year" visitors that was too long of an investment.

Have you checked out YouTube on the various videos of the different viewing locations? That might help you decide.

I agree. :)

I would choose (and have chosen) to be on Main Street or in the hub. But I have no idea what the other viewing spots are like. I like the effects on the MS buildings. But you cannot see everything from any single spot. Disney did this on purpose to spread people out rather than force them to choose a four hour wait for the perfect spot.

I also like the projections on the castle, but those can only be fully appreciated from directly in front of the castle -- the area between the castle and the hub.
If the OP wants to invest the time, camp out at the rope in front of the castle.

I'm interested in doing this to. About how early do they put the rope up in front of the castle (and people start camping out) if fireworks are at 9? Do people camp out before the rope goes up?

Thanks everyone! I thought that might be the case. We should be able to work in seeing it at least a couple of times, so will have to try different spots. Appreciate the suggestions!!

I heard It's Small World also has projections going on during Disney Forever? We are doing Paint the night dinner, so I am hoping to just onto main street afterwards.

These would be my choices by order of preference:

Main Street was hands down my favorite spot. I would agree completely with the map that Mary Jo posted (quoted above).

When we watched from Main Street, we waited inside one of the shops about halfway down the street during Paint the Night, and as soon as it went by, moved out to the street for the fireworks. No waiting required.

YUP! There is no need to wait for Fireworks - not when you can move into the street with all those who just finished watching the parade!!

It's a Small World is a really nice alternative. The projections are really good there. If you're having the Aladdin dinner then you'll be watching the parade from there and it would be good to situate yourselves where you can see the Matterhorn and it's a Small World facade. You'll be doing some back and forth looking as a few of the fireworks are by the castle. If you're having the sit-down Blue Bayou dinner then you'll be watching the parade from Main Street, right before you get to Carnation Cafe, and can go into the street right afterwards.

Main Street is the common choice for obvious reasons, and it'll be like sardines there for about an hour. We've seen it after F! on the water screens and that was just OK. But the best show projections are on Small World. Sure, it's not the castle, but it could be the best area to see the pyros and the projections.

We watched from the Hub where we could see straight down to the Matterhorn and in front of the castle. I have seen it there twice and not tried anywhere else.

If you are willing to invest the time.... in the hub in front of the castle are benches. If you select the one that faces the path to A Small World and the Matterhorn...you will have prime viewing for the parade and the fireworks. We switch out for food and washroom breaks. It is an amazing place to watch both.

So are there benches, or do you just need to bring a blanket and wait. Will be going in May and I'm trying to get all of this stuff planned out. Thank you.

There are benches around the back area of the sidewalk, right up against the fence that circles the Partners area.

If you want one of those, be prepared to camp out uber early though. As in maybe 3 hours early?

What we did is wait over by the rocks by the rocket ride. As soon as the first parade finished, we walked quickly to the hub and took our place. Then we were not waiting around for hours (just about 15 minutes) for the fireworks to start. Then right after the fireworks, as people began to clear out, we took our place on the curb and waited for the 2nd parade. Worked perfectly!

The benches and sidewalk on the Northeast quarter of the Hub were VIP seating, in December 2015.

Seems like a good strategy.
