Sorry, but I have a lot of questions re: this dining spot! For making my ADRs on the DDP, I am trying to determine in advance what meals my hubby & I can split. We often split or take home food at restaurants when the portions are what we consider as large, but obviously can't get doggy bags at WDW (no dog!). Don't want to make more reservations than we need, but also don't want to be shut out with no times available. So, dining planning via split meals is necessary, & thought I might as well get some opinions on likes & dislikes from anyone willing to share. (I have read some comments via the search engine.) BTW, when asking for opinions on the food quality, I realize that DDP CS is not "fine" dining, but since we are on the DDP, we will be eating-up our CS meals, & for instance, fatty/gristled/tough meat is a fairly standard quality (or non-quality) measurement. So, I am sincerely interested in opinions. Here we go! -

What size is the Rotisserie Chicken menu item - 1/4 chicken, 1/2 chicken?

Does the "Carved Roast of the Day" really change the type of meat, or is it usually the same cut? If usually the same cut, what is it - pot roast? Is it served mashed potatoes & gravy style?

Strangely, I have not seen any comments on the BarBQ ribs - maybe I just missed them. Anyone tried them & were they any good? Seems like a cheap price, so I'm wondering if it is a small portion or just not a good cut?

I realize this is not on the DDP Board, but does anyone know what we can get on the DDP at breakfast? If we get the Breakfast Skillet, do we also get a bakery item for our dessert? And then get an orange juice & a coffee? Are refillable fountain soft drinks an option at breakfast? Any comments on the size & quality of the Breakfast Skillet?

Lastly, the pasta - any comments on the quality & quantity of the Pasta with Pomodoro Sauce & Italian Sausage & the "Fresh Made Pasta"?

How about the "Fresh Made Pasta"? The menu on this website lists the pasta & sauces of choice, but does not list any "meat". Is a choice of meat included & if so, what types?

Smoothies - I've read that servers refill drinks. Does this include the smoothies?

Eating Outside - Are the drinks refillable?

Ice Cream for Dessert - Whether eating in or out, can ice cream items be picked up after eating the entree?

Thanks so much, Julie

It's been a couple of years since we stayed at Coronado, but here's what I can remember...

What size is the Rotisserie Chicken menu item - 1/4 chicken, 1/2 chicken? Last time we were there, it was a half chicken, although really I guess it's more like 1/3 because there is no wing on there to speak of lol

Does the "Carved Roast of the Day" really change the type of meat, or is it usually the same cut? If usually the same cut, what is it - pot roast? Is it served mashed potatoes & gravy style?

Knowing my travelmate's favorite things, he probaby ordered these at some point that trip... but I don't remember them.

No desserts at breakfast. The juice is your dessert option - the coffee/water/soda you choose is your beverage.

Lastly, the pasta - any comments on the quality & quantity of the Pasta with Pomodoro Sauce & Italian Sausage & the "Fresh Made Pasta"?

There were a couple of options with chicken or shrimp among the pasta offerings, as well as non-meat dishes (just pasta and sauce).
Smoothies - I've read that servers refill drinks. Does this include the smoothies?
I don't think so; can't remember, only ordered a smoothie once and I don't think I wanted a refill...
Eating Outside - Are the drinks refillable?

Ice Cream for Dessert - Whether eating in or out, can ice cream items be picked up after eating the entree?
Yes, ask the cashier to stamp your receipt.
Thanks so much, Julie

"I've read that the servers refill drinks"

If they feel like it. The last time I went the servers stood on one side of an empty resturant and gossiped with each other... and then I was charged a mandatory tip. That was the last time I plan to eat there.

My honey and I share alot of meals too! Just IMO, we personally didn't find Pepper Market to be that great, it was okay, but nothing to write home about. The portion sizes in general would probably be fine to split, we did and still had leftovers sometimes. That being said though, after our 2nd meal there, we decided there was better food out there. However, I DO suggest trying the Maya while you are there. Both the food and service there were excellent ( and plenty to share!)

For pizza you can get either the individual or large as a single CS credit, just have to ask for it. Pre-made crust, but it's decent for CS pizza, slightly better than the park ones.

Rotis chicken meal is also large enough to slpit, even the pasta if you're not super hungry. We often split a chicken quesadilla plate as a late night snack after a day in the parks, or a nacho plate. Some of the sandwiches are large too, can split those for a light meal.

No extra meats to add to the pasts other than the chicken or sausage options (sometimes shrimp) they have listed on the menu. The pasta itself is not fresh made as in rolling the dough and cutting the pasta, the meal is more "fresh assembled" with the dried pasta cooked at the time of your order, unless it's very busy and they pre-cook some pasta to have on hand.

We often get the mugs, and just refill them ourselves at Rix next door for our meal. Then get a couple of bottled juices for our beverages and keep those in our room for breakfast. Same with dessert rolls or muffins, saved for breakfast the next day if we don't feel like dessert. Or we get bottled waters for the parks.

If you get soft drinks or coffee/tea with the plan, they are refillable. Haven't done the smoothies, don't know if they count as a beverage, but they are not refillable.

Sometimes the steaks are decent, sometimes not, we always ask first and the CM's have been honest. In addition to the grilled steak, there is a Mexican Ranchero skirt steak that has always been good. There are often various daily specials, usually 4pm to 8pm for dinner.

Haven't had the ribs, nothing compares to Flame Tree in AK, but DH said the ribs were good, just messy.

Breakfast plate is 2 eggs any way, bacon (3 strips) or sausage (2), a muffin or biscuit, breakfast potatoes that need ketchup since they're not seasoned. Basic large breakfast. There are other good breakfast options too, omlets, burritos, waffles, fruit plate, etc. We often use a snack credit to get fruit cups at Rix to complement our breakfast pastries that are left over desserts from last night's dinner.

Eating outside is a "to go" order. No refills on drinks since you've checked out, unless you're filling your own mugs at Rix.

What a help! Thanks so much for answering my questions. We've decided that we will go ahead & give PM a try.

Thanks again, Julie

We stayed at CS for Monday night, checked out yesterday. We ended up not eating at Pepper Market simply because of the prices, we weren't on the DDP. Our DD had been sick and only wanted macaroni and cheese. Well, nowhere to be found, we thought alfredo might be an ok substitute for her. So we went to order the "fresh" pasta. It was pre-cooked, sitting in a bowl next to a fryer that was filled with water. They grabbed a bowl full and threw it in there to heat it up. The sauces were disgusting. The alfredo was all crusted and brown around the edges of the container it was in and had a nasty film on top. When he started mixing it it was full of lumps. I told him to put it back I wouldn't feed that to my daughter. It was the worst looking alfredo sauce I've ever seen, disgusting. The red sauce wasn't much better.

We did enjoy Rix cafe. Lower prices, good food. Run by the same company I think though. The chef was great, even made me a fresh salad yesterday since the ones in the fridge were looking a little soggy.
