Okay, I know that pepper market has a "trial" buffet going on but I don't know till when, does anyone know?

Also, if you've been to the buffet, how is it? Do you like it better than the other setup of the "food court" type?

Any info that can be provided on Pepper Market would be appreciated, we are planning on going the end of May and if they have the "trial" buffet still going on, that may be our deciding factor on where to stay.

TIA!!!!

would love to know this too!!!!:cool1:

It might be the deal breaker between the hotels... we so love the buffet idea.

According to allearsnet, the testing time was Dec 4-Jan 4, so today's the last day.

Maybe someone who is there tomorrow will chime in to let you know if it's continuing.

I'm interested to see if its continuing too. I read a rumor that its possible it could turn into TS if it stays all you can eat style. From my understanding, it's not a buffet like other buffets where large quantities are put out for self service. I guess they still make your food at the stations and they give you what you want - it's just all you can eat. Curious if this will still be the case!

We just got back last night from our first stay at CSR. We went a few times to the dinner, which for now is still ala carte, and once to the buffet. The food during dinner was VERY good--made to order and very fresh--but it was a RIDICULOUSLY long wait for everything. I actually ended up asking to speak to a manager, b/c it was so frustrating for both the guests and the CM's making the food. It was high season, and they had a line of 6 or 7 people waiting to get their pizzas, but no one knew whose pizzas were whose, so people were arguing and getting very frustrated. The manager told me this was why they were changing it all to buffet, including dinner, but it would remain a CS on dining plan--don't know what the OOP cost would be. He didn't say when it would change, but he said it hadn't changed yet because they were still working on the menu.

The buffet at lunch was still quite good--just not as good as someone making it right there. They continue to put the paninis and quesidillas and things on the grill when needed, but you're not getting it freshly made. But it is much better than regular buffet--DH had pasta, and they put the pasta in a skillet with the sauce and heated it that way for him--everything isn't just out in a big vat.

We're actually one of the few who like Pepper Market the way it is. Even though we've had to wait in the past, we love the variety and have always thought our food was really fresh. Not sure how we're going to feel about it being a buffet now, this is a bummer for sure :sad2:

I agree. I didn't mind waiting for my food because I knew it was being freshly prepared. I will miss that if they decide to go with the buffet permanently.

Does this mean that you cannot order a whole pizza to take to your room for lunch anymore? I hope that this is not the case!

I'll be disappointed if they change it to a buffet. We wouldn't want a big buffet breakfast( and wouldn't want to use our QS credits), but don't want to wait to eat in the parks. What does the small to go place sell in the morning.?

We were there for the lunch buffet Dec 21. We liked it a lot - the broccoli soup was amazing. We all had something different and there was nothing we didn't like. Our server told us that the buffet was there to stay and she thought dinner and breakfast would also be buffet soon. We used our DDP counter service for this meal but if you were paying out of pocket, 16.99 plus tip per person is more than I would want to pay for lunch.

I ate there for the buffet on 12/17. We were staying at Pop but made the trip over from Epcot for lunch. My mom and I went just the two of us and we really enjoyed it. Everything we got was nice and hot without waiting for a bunch of people. And unlike other buffets there was not huge vats or piles of the food just a little bit and more was made fresh. It was well worth our QS credit on the dining plan. Mom and I both agreed that it was one of the best overall meals we had on the trip and will go again if it is still there when we go in August!

I am going to Disney on Jan 21st and was hoping this would stay buffet.

We are staying at all star sports and we are on quickservice didning so being able to get a breakfast buffet or lunch is great for variety.

If it is still going I think we might hit it on a late start day.

The buffet was quite good--not sure I'd come from another resort though--that always seems to take so much time if using Disney bus system.

I do think they'll need to expand their little to go area though--otherwise there really won't be a place for someone to grab a quick snack at night. That's what we did when we got back at night a few times--ordered a pizza to share. If they don't expand that small to go place--also called Rix?--I can't think of a place to grab a quick bite.

That is my concern. What about those of us who don't want a full breakfast buffet in the morning? I am not a huge breakfast eater. A sausage biscuit is plenty for me in the morning, or maybe some toast and scramble eggs. I not going to pay $17 so I can just have a sausage biscuit and I don't think Cafe Rix has those things. Am I going to have to make a run to McDonald's every morning?

We were there in late August, and Cafe Rix had some hot things to the right ....next to the refrigeration cases....we never had anything from there, but they looked and smelled good??!!??

I've heard that the Cafe Rix menu would expand and add some more quick hot breakfast and lunch items... Not sure about the extent or if that's truly the case.

I also read on AllEars it was supposed to end yesterday. But when they did a post on the Disney Parks Blog about, I asked if it would still be buffet during my trip (1/6 – 1/11) and was told that it would still be the trial buffet.

Personally I don't like the buffet idea; I like to order a kids meal or split a meal with someone else. But I've never been to CSR (well, until tomorrow!) and maybe these things will be available at Cafe Rix? Or will be soon?

Cafe Rix has some very nice breakfast sandwiches along with other choices. I agree with sharing meals or grabbing something small on my way to the bus stop. I can't see paying 14.99 for a quick small breakfast.

We're not going until the end of May, but have to make our reservations end of next month, so hopefully by then they will know if they are going to continue it or not. If they do, we'll be staying somewhere else, probably POR. We stayed there when it was Dixie Landings and really liked the convenience of a food court.

Count me in as another vote for hoping it doesn't stay a buffet. Going in June, paying OOP & we always frequent our resort food court. The variety of stations was one of the things that attracted us to CSR. I understand we can hit Rix Cafe for some grab & go but would like the option to eat from the stations. Guess we'll wait & see.

Can anyone report if the trial for the buffet is over or if it is still ongoing? Also, is there a place to order whole pizzas during lunch hours?
