We left Ohio and boarded Amtrak for our first leg to Washington DC, train only 45 minutes late but who cares. I enjoy train travel, sat back, played gameboy, read, we had snacks and beverages and arrived just fine in DC. Big layover, 4 hours but interesting. Boarded the south board train to Kissimmee and asked for a roomette up grade, tons cheaper then booking before, had one and moved into our room in time for dinner. Best beef tenderloins, mashed potatoes and gravy I've eaten, meals are included in sleeper up grade, and cheese cake dessert. We traveled uneventful till around Charleston SC when we woke to be just sitting idle not moving. Found out we're 3 1/2 hours behind, train ran over someone, police and news people all over, guess it was a sucide, but we finally got rolling again.
Arriving in the Kissimmee station is always the best for us, we're in Florida, nothing but fun fro 10 days. We used Sunray Transportation, first time, to get to WDW. I have nothing but the best report from this company. Co-owner Roger was there, remember we're 3 some hours late, he's standing with a sign with our name and his new suburban is running keeping the inside super cool. He gets our baggage claim tickets and retrieves our bags, places them in vehicle, opens the door for us and away we go. We requested a grocery stop, included, and want alcohol too. He stopped at a Publix in route with an ABC next door. We were in and out both stores with our supplies in 20 minutes. We liked the driver/owner being an American and speaking english greatly, good conversation going to WDW. Again upon arriving at WL, Roger handles all bags, checks our pick up date and time and gives us a card with contact info for anything, professional outfit all the way.
Now the fun park, checking in, getting room and beginning the adventure. The cast are me and my wife, 39th visit to WDW and we're in our late 50's. Valet cart is loaded and we receive our room, 5th floor courtyard view, one queen and bunkbeds. View from veranndah exciting, wife and I spent many a night, sitting, watching the pool and firework sipping a beverage. Anyho, we stash the supplies and grab our bathing suits for our traditional swim with beverage, natch. Water is 87 degrees, being from the northeastern part of Ohio and just falling into a pool is pure out of this world pleasure. Our evening ritual first night is FW for pizza and pitchers of beer. Trails End has both and they are quite plentiful, excellent and people free, no crowd. We got to catch the EWP and one more pool dip and purchased our drink mugs before retiring for the night, got our money's worth out of the mugs, great lemonade during the day and hot chocolate for the pre bed DVD movie extravaganza, everyone knows Disney cable sucks right, we take our own portable DVD player and 12 movies for each night and relax with the hot chocolate. We needed our rest from the trip down and the next day is our ticket buying MK day.
