i was just listening to a report tha many people send disney letters asking if there loved ones ashess can be spread around the various park, their reply is always no, well some people "sneak" the ashes in and last week POTC was shut down due to a lady spreading the ashes in the water during the ride!
as much as i love diesneyand in a way i would think this is a great gesture it seems so unsanitary. my son put his hands in that water, yes not recommended but still,
thoughts?

I've always kind of (half) jokingly told my family that I want my ashes scattered at Disney World, although I don't think that I'd really have them do it. I don't think I'd do it on a ride though. Some place like a secluded spot just off of a trail near the Wilderness Lodge would be nice.

Also, I don't think ashes can carry any kind of contagious organism since they are a product of extremely high temperatures, but I might be wrong.

Besides, just how much "yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me" can you possibly listen to in the afterlife?????:lmao: :lmao:

Somewhere on WDW property might be nice, but in the water on the POTC ride:confused: They must have really liked that ride!!!
Also, that would be so embarrasing wouldn't it? I wonder how they found out???:rotfl:

They showed this news story on Fox News yesturday...and they stated that about 900 people have shread ashes of loved ones in HM....and they have to shut down the ride to "clean up" but I think I heard that last week was the first time for POTC.

there is always the chance for bone fragments to be left over in there... i don't know it seems wrong to dispose of someone you love like that even if the loved a place so much

There won't be anything contagious but most people would be upset to discover anything that looked like human remains period.

It's not only the health factor that you have to look it. Dumping someone's ashes in a public place (at least in most places) is illegal. In many cases, there are environmental issues as well.

To the person who said that their son puts his hands in the water at POTC.... I work at WDW at DAK my roommie works at POTC.... without giving to many details let me just warn, do not let him do that..... there are metal rails that have been in that water since it opened....

I really don't see a problem with it, as long as it doesn't shut down a ride or get on people. Like in the moat around the castle, the rose gardens at Epcot...just a very little here and little there!!!! Just don't dump all of them in one spot! Why not have a little bit in the happiest place on earth!!! With all the money that we invest going there...the least we could do is put just a little ashes there! JMO

I see a problem with it. Would you want random people coming on to your property and disposing of their loved ones remains there? Not only that, but why bother? Where is your loved one most likely going to end up? Not in the rose garden in Epcot but inside a vacuum cleaner or trash bin.

I was thinking maybe spread me across the Seven Seas Lagoon while tooling
around in a Water Mouse. Like Shirley MacLaine and Jack Nicholson in "Terms
of Endearment". :thumbsup2

i agree. infact, i've told my wife that this what i want done. i can't see doing it on a ride because (as a previous poster said), i'd just end up in the vacuum and waste basket or a water filter, only to be disposed of. i don't see a problem in one of the larger lakes or lagoons.

not only would i be resting in the happiest place on earth, but if someone wants to visit, they can be in a good mood, rather than depressed.

That's why I think the rose gardens at Epcot would be a good spot. My DH and I always like to admire the roses. And it's not like I could be swept away there. I would then become part of the garden. I'm not talking all of my ashes...just a little. It's not like it would be harming someone. Like the previous poster said, anyone could come visit and it wouldn't be all depressing, they are in the happiest place on earth.

I've always said when I die I don't want a funeral. I'd rather have my family celebrate my life on a Disney Cruise. If possible I'd like my ashes dumped over board so that I can become a part of the ocean, but I'd certainly not want my family to do anything illegal that would get them in trouble....and I am fairly certain this is illegal. As for dumping ashes in the park.....that kind of creeps me out. At least dumping it on the side walks or rides would. Dumping ashes in the rose garden sounds kind of nice. But honestly I would never want to be in WDW illegally while I'm alive I certainly don't want to be there illegally when I'm dead. Instead of paying tribute to your love of Disney it kind of tarnishes it.

Disney just wants to make sure you buy your "Eternity Park Hopper" ticket!:lmao:

Seriously, I've got to believe that there's some kind of pool type filter on the ride so scattering ashes on POTC is probably not a permanent resting place.

Maybe Disney should just start a cemetery plot at each park....
