people that have already booked their flights - more money to pay?

We booked our October flights with BA in January and the price increase was automatically added.

any booking made after 11th december automatically indluded the charge, if you booked prior to that you almost certainly WILL be informed at asome point that you've extra to pay, Bookings in my office are being notified up to and including the week of 23rd March, if you're flying before this and made your booking prior to Dec 11th and are not flying BA contact your operator to see if you need to pay. There's no point in trying to avoid it, they may refuse you boarding if they can't prove you've paid.

Any one any idea about VIRGIN HOLIDAYS????? Im confussed!

Not going till Oct, so have plenty of time to save.................. yer yer yer a GREEN tax..................:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: like already said, the only colour Gordon Brown is seeing is the colour of MONEY!!!!

So all this extra money, what exactly will it be spent on ????

when did you book it? if it was after dec 11th it would already be included, if it was before then you WILL have to pay it. As for what it'll go towards I can only guess that Jaguar have a new model out soon....;)

we are flying with flyglobespan this year and treated ourselves to Business Class - for some reason economy and PE have APD of £20 and business class £40 - do you use more fuel in buisness class then!!!! this adds £160 to our flights not happy but will have to pay

We are flyimg with virgin on monday 22nd jan and returing feb 5th, haven't heard anything from them so what should i do? I know it's from the 1st of feb but what about our return flight? Can we pay at the airport if we need to?

I have a feeling APD is only due on flights departing the UK, you do not have to pay it when arriving back, so I am guessing you will have escaped the increase.

Claire ;)

i booked on dec 23rd flight only for feb with virgin - so i reckon that i will have to pay.

anyone know how much? is it £20 or £40?

i wonder why virgin atlantic hasn't put anything up on its website about these increases?

julie.

Increased wages for MP's, increased MP's pension contributions plus funding for a new department devoted to inventing ways of taxing the working public out of more of their hard earned wages.

no you don't use more fuel, but that's not what this stealth tax is all about - the fuel surcharge is something totally different. Air Passenger Duty is a tax to allow you to be an air passenger! its supposed to be being used towards environmental things and to reduce carbon emissions.
The daftest thing is, many companies are now asking if you want to offset your carbon emissions when you buy a flight (this is an optional thing, not compulsory) so the government COULD have just introduced that as compulsory, then we'd all feel like the 'tax' was actually being used for something good

We're going with VH in September and booked last August. The new tax hasn't been added on to our booking as yet but there is still a while to go until our balance is due (July) so i'm waiting til then to enquire about it. I don't want any nasty surprises at the airport as we probably won't be carrying much sterling =/
