People please!!!!

I took my 9 month old to a birthday party for a 1 year old. The birthday girl's 18 month old cousin was there, with viral croup, he spent the whole party crying and coughing. :sad2:

In addition to what maroo said...

I wish my state would get rid of the policy that if you miss over 13 days of school within a calender year without a doctor's excuse within 48 hours, you get sent to court where they take you away from your parents. It doesn't matter if you were coughing up blood all over the place, no doctor's excuse, no parents. Hence why people are coughing and sneezing all over the place at my school...:sad2: (Some of us don't have constant access to a doctor...)

My DBF has a cough, congestion, sore throat, stuffy nose, etc. If you saw him at the store you would probably be mad he was out too. But ya know what? He has a sinus infection and isn't contagious. Don't be too quick to judge those sicklies out there. Some of them might not even be a threat to your heath.

Sounds like my DH except for the sore throat. He's had a sinus infection, chronic sinusitis due to allergy, that also made his asthma much worse. It's been over a month, he's had antibiotics, prednisone, cough medicine, you name it and he's still coughing. It just takes him time to get over it. When we went to Back to School night last night people were avoiding him like the plague.

I was in the elevator at work yesterday (health care facility) when a nursing supervisor (Masters level nurse) sneezed and coughed for the entire 10 second ride without attempting to cover her nose or mouth. I stared at her in disbelief and if I thought I wouldn't get admonished by saying something to her I would have...she knew that I knew that she's an idiot:rotfl:

I agree...but the first woman never said she was sick? My sister got yelled at by some stranger for using a public restroom while coughing (:confused3:lmao:). My sister didnt even get a chance to come out of the stall and explina that she felt absolutely great but has mild asthma and seasonal allergies that are quite aggrevating right about now. SO - if sick: stay home - if allergies; wear a sign! :cutie:

I am sure all those at my daughter's back to school night said the same thing about me. I was sneezing and blowing my nose and coughing (using the large pile of tissues in my hand), but it is only my allergies and asthma. I am at home today tethered to my nebulizer. I feel awful, I look awful but I am not contagious to anyone.

That cashier, or person at the clothing store probably had no choice but to come in to work. In addition to getting rid of perfect attendance we need to make sure that employers aren't threatening to fire those that can't come in due to illness. Not sure how you id an legit illness other than maybe they have to show up so the employer can see that they are sick and send them home. Most of those employess get no health insurance and can't afford to see a dr. for a simple cold.

If a person is going to go out in public no matter what, I'd rather have them coughing and sneezing and basically letting us know *I'm communicable, stay away!!!!" than have them drug-up and hide the symptoms while still spewing germs with every breath they take.

Said by mom of kid who came down with the nose/throat stuff not 2 days after his swim lesson, where the grandma sitting next to me started talking about how much better her grandson sounded, now that he took his cough medicine! GREAT! And the grandson was right there with the mom, it's not like HE had the lesson...why take him out for a sib's lesson when you have someone else to watch him??????
