I cannot belive the audacity of this guy. He is not stepping down from his postion on the MTA. I would not go in those tunnels of the Big Dig if my life depended on it. Wait it just might!!

I can't believe that he hasn't resigned. Everytime they say he has a press conference scheduled, I think he is going to annouce he is leaving so that the focus can be on the investigation instead of on him. :sad2:

Do I believe he is single-handedly responsible for the roof collapsing? No, but he is not qualified to run the MTA nor is he qualified to be handling the investigation. I can't believe that he is so ignorant that he won't resign.

Mitt is also a moron for not pushing the issue a long time ago. He's going to use this as more press for his "not sure if I'm going to run for President" campaign. :lmao: Then, we have DA Reilly. Ya, ok, it's a crime scene. Talk about MA being the laughingstock of the country right now.

Matty can't even get the poor victim's name correct...he keeps calling her Melinda. Hellllllooooooooo.....time to walk away from this Matt. :moped:

Also, with the traffic the way it is, can you imagine if someone decides to launch a terrorist attack in Boston. I am so nervous because dh works in the city every day and I keep telling him to please be very careful.

Give it a bit of time...remember, it took over a week for "Brownie" to step down after the Katrina fallout.

I think when he gets sentenced that part of his sentencing should be that he has to spend 9 to 5 every workday for a year in the Big Dig tunnels.
See how he feels about their safety after *that*.
Maybe he should have to stand in front of that section that gave way (& murdered that woman) for a day.

Btw, how does Fat Matt make it in to work anyway? Does HE or any family members actually use any of these tunnels on a regular/daily basis?

agnes!

He claims that he goes through the tunnel and so does his daughter! Sure!

At least someone stepped in and told him they are NOT re-opening that tunnel today at noon. What a moron....did he really think they'd just pick up the cement and open the tunnel like nothing happened?? Then they said that there are more "compromised" areas in other tunnels. That's just great.

A lot of the problems with the big dig occurred before Matt came into office so obviously he is not to blame for them initially. But it's his responsibility to make sure things are inspected and safe.

the man is useless in a Brownie way. The fact he stood in front of everyone yesterday and said that the tunnels were safe was reason alone for him losing that job.

What does "Brownie way mean"? It might be an new expression I want to use in the future.

One of the things that concerned me is Matt could not give a straight answer as to how often the tunnels are required to be inspected. :confused3

Information like that should be available off the top of his head. It is his responsibility to know how often inspections should be performed.

He was the guy in charge of FEMA during the Katrina fiasco. He was in way over his head and took the fall for everyone involved.

Incompetent in the same way Michael Brown was incompetent.

Yup and his difficulty with the line of questioning about the cameras and if anyone actually monitors them.

Wake up and smell the roses Matt,or maybe you've inhaled to much exhaust ,but it is time to resign.

The reporter called him on it when he said 3 years....she said, "I thought you said bi-annually, that's every 2 years." and he got all flustered and stammered about how he misspoke and it's really 3 years. Then, another reporter asked him if all of the rain and leaks was a cause of the collapse and he just said, "Uhh....uhhh....." and looked at the State Police Officer. How the heck would the Statie know?! At least say you don't know...say SOMETHING.

2 good points were brought up on RKO this morning.

1. Matt's staying in office til he can destroy or spin all the evidence.
2. He's lawyer shopping so he can get the best golden parachute available.

If he really wants to do something, resign so that the focus can be on correcting the mistakes that have been made and move forward. How long are they going to keep the tunnel closed? :confused3 They need to make corrections and open it up asap.

If he actually wanted to do something to get himself out of the mud, he'd get the ball rolling to abolish the Turnpike Authority before he resigns!

Heard on RKO Thursday afternoon: Amorello was given the opportunity to step aside but still get his same annual salary - and refused

I don't get it. He's discussed 'it' with his wife and his extended family, and the result is he's decided not to step down????????? HUH??? Who gives a rat's patoot what his wife thinks. Let's ask Angel Del Valle what HE thinks! For those not familiar with the entire situation, Del Valle's wife is the one who was crushed to death by the multi-ton fallen panel. He escaped with 'only' minor injuries.

Did I read it on another board here? Someone suggested that the tunnel in question, instead of being named for some arbitrary sports figure or politician, should be dedicated the "Milena Del Valle Memorial Tunnel"

Step Down? I think he should be Thrown Out!
