I've been seeing an awful lot of stone throwing going on recently. Is it really necessary? Does it make you feel better about yourself to put others down?

What happened to not judging others until you've walked a mile in their shoes.

I think we all need to try that once in awhile.

Please put the rocks down.

Thank you.

tmt martins, me too. I thought this would be a fun place to meet new *friends* and talk about Disney and other life stuff. I thought it would be a fun place to escape to during me time. Lately it's been so catty I almost feel as if I was back in high school.

DD, I'm not talking about opnions. I enjoy a spirited conversation and debate. I'm talking about the down right judgemental lecturing posts.

Thank you. I actually had "Flowers on the Wall" playing when I created my user name. I love Capt. Kangaroo though.

I have seen a few nasty ones tonight. I just try not to get sucked in to them and stay away from posting. I have a few people on my ignore list, but sometimes I find myself reading through, like watching a train wreck unfolding in front of you.

I typically unsubscribe by Page 4 of each thread, just to avoid seeing the train wrecks. (It also keeps the number of threads I follow down to a manageable level. :teeth: ) I was watching television last night, so I guess I missed all the "action" -- From how many threads I've seen posted today about the nastiness last night, I guess it was a great night to watch television!

whew - glad I was offline last night - dodged a few bullets!

I was not on last night. So what was going on?

IMHO If you keep posting vents (I never have and never will) about family members and then do something and get made when people point out how you may have handled it better is that being nasty? I see that as constuctive critism. We can all learn from these discussions.

IMO - Ive been on message boards for 10 years and the phrase "Constructive Criticism" is usually a way to rip on someone and then toss it at the end, to make it all okay.

"Youre terrible, rude, lazy, a bad mom and an awful wife, yet dont be mad - Im just helping by giving you some Constructive Criticism"

Again, being on boards for so long - catty-ness, rudeness and the like happens often and the reason *I* feel it does is cuz we're all nameless, faceless creatures on here. I seriously doubt some of the things said, would be said, if it were face to face.

Again just my observation after years - :3dglasses

Sometimes you have to throw rocks to try to knock them off their crystal pedestal.

But in the same respect I think there are times (not all the time) that no one would actually say certain things to someone in person BUT they really really need to hear it and if takes the faceless nature of the message board to do it then it is still a good thing. Some people just will never see that they are doing something destructive or wrong until confronted and many times family and friends just want to play nicey nice so as not to cause waves (I know because my wife will not confront her mother about a myriad of problems)., whereas someone here can just let loose because in essence they don't have to live with the person.

This is just what I was thinking. I try to avoid some of the threads that you just know are going to turn ulgy, pool hopping, abortion, religion, anything with the government. These all seem to be hot button, not just on the boards but in realy life. Like with all things Disney I prefer to keep real life out of my happy place! :earboy2: But sometime you've just gotta stop and look, just like a train wreck.
