Ok...This is probably a really silly question :confused3 , but I've been doing a little research and have question

What is the difference in a K100D and a K100D Super?

Pretty much that it takes full advantage of the SDM lenses and has a dust removal system. Also, the K100D is no longer being made. If you can save say $20 by getting the K100D, then it might be worth it. The SDM lenses are very expensive and not likely to be used by someone buying a budget DSLR. Also, it has pretty much been proven that no dust reduction systems work very well.

Thanks so much...I spent a couple hours last night visiting various sites and making a spreadsheet with prices when I realized that they both existed and I had not been making note of which prices went to which camera so now I'm going to go back through them....Pentax has a $100 rebate for the Super Kit so I am thinking I will probably do that - just have to decide the best price.

Buydig and Beach Camera usually have the best prices while still being honest. Be sure to check Reseller Ratings for online sellers.

BTW, I have the K100D and love it.

Thanks so much for your instant replies...This will be my first step into the SLR cameras. I've owned a half dozen p&s ones but of course am never satisfied so I've decided to take the plunge and learn. It should be interesting as most of the language you guys use sounds like a foreign language to me. :rotfl: But my daughters are active in twirling and softball and we're going to Disney next month and I'm tired of taking 100 pictures and ending up with 4 or 5 good ones.

I have Buydig on my list and it does seem to be the best deal so far, but I'm a member of a few reward programs also and am checking through their vendors to see if anyone compares with the cash back I'll get. Do you know anything about Newegg.com? Their price was the same as buydig and they give you a 1gb card and I get a small % back

And speaking of card, what size memory card do I need? What would you recommend? I've used only sony p&s for the last few years so I'll have to invest in that too. I would at least like to be able to take all day at disney and unload them at night. Anything else I would not think of for this first purchase?

Newegg is a solid vendor, you can't go wrong with them. Check prices at bhphoto.com as well. Very good company with good prices.

I've added bh to my list and will check them out tonight. Hoping to purchase Wednesday or Thursday. Thanks for all the help.

I see you are from Katy..what a small world...my best friend moved to katy over the summer. She is teaching at Cinco Ranch.
