I have the 50-200 from pentax for my k100 it really is a good lens the only problem I have with it is that it is not the fastest of lenses which makes it a little challenging at night. Here some shots with the lens

I do not have it, but I have reasons to believe that it is on the way to me on Friday night. That is when we exchange presents with my parents b/c they are flying down to celebrate X-mas and DM's B-day. It usually gets good reviews from users. If I get it, I will let you know what I think. I would bet that it is better than the Sigma, but not sure.

Well, I might have it ordered before Friday but please do let me know how you like it...:)

Well I just ordered the Pentax 50-200..........:cool1: ......from B&H, should have it in 3-5 days.

It's a good lens though honestly I think it may not be quite up to the level of the quite good kit 18-55mm lens... but pretty close. By and large it can produce good images. Photozone.de's review of it is a little harsh but it really is not too bad, and is very small and light for its focal length.

Here's a few shots from WDW:

Thanks for the info Groucho....I ordered it and am looking forward to using it. For the money I could not pass it up and I wanted it before I go to Alaska in Jan.

Well, I was right. The DA 50-200mm made its way under my tree over the weekend! I have not shot very many with it and have not processed the RAW shots at all (very busy with all the family in town), but I am impressed with it so far. It is faster and more accurate at AF than my old Tamron. It is also much more solid. The Tamron is going to be going on Craigslist very soon.

:worship: Groucho :worship: to this day you make me envious I know that eventually with the help of a tripod and more time behind the lens that I will get better but your night shot of the Grand Floridian is outstanding. I had all but given up on the lens for night shots since it isnt the fastest but need to remember that with a tripod and the right fstop you can get really great pictures

Thanks, Gokenin! To be fair, that was a fairly easy shot to get, and most any lens should do well in that situation. Sturdy tripod (with the spikes out stuck in the sand at the Polynesian), F8, and a remote shutter release. :thumbsup2

Here's a couple other shots from the same time:

I enjoy my lens (50-200mm) and there is one other I want to get. I have a larger Sigma lens, but not sure I am happy with it all the time... am sure its something with my technique that I need to work on but that has to wait. Hope you enjoy it :thumbsup2

Well I raced home from work today while I had a break and guess what was sitting on my front porch?????? Yep, THE lens. I went ahead and put it on the camera and messed around with it for a little bit before I went back to work. My wife had a good idea of going to the zoo this weekend to test it and see what it can do. Will post pics later.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
