Pentax Announces New Super Zoom X-5

This looks like a very good alternative to those looking for an all-in-one super zoom. It has a suggested retail price of $279.95 and will become available in September. We will have to wait and see what the critics say, but it does have the articulated LCD screen with an electronic viewfinder. At that price, I would be interested for a backup to my DSLR's!

That does look sweet, or should i say sexy..especially with the silver/chrome.
Odd collection of specs:
Only 30p video, but a 10 shot per second burst mode that goes for up to 30 shots (my Sony only goes up to 10)
580mm is not very far in the super zoom category but it starts at a very wide 22mm equivilent.
Tilt screen and EFV but the screen is fairly low resolution.
But I suppose the shortcomings are easily forgiven by the low price point.

As a high quality camera, I'm sure the fixed aperature f/2.8 Panasonic FZ-200 will be well worth it's increased price.. But it's fun to see competition.

I do agree with one of the DPreview comments, consumers want a DSLr that looks like a point and shoot (size wise) not a point and shoot that looks like a DSLr.
