Does anyone know how many penny press machines there are at the resorts. We are trying to scroung up all our change for tomorrow my sonwants all the pressed pennies he can get.

There are change machines pretty much anywhere there's a penny press machine (at least that's my memory from our last penny-centric trip), so no worries about bringing all the change you need. :)

Don't forget to get a penny folder/holder/book thing! They're only around 5 bucks and are nice, in my opinion.

I second that on the penny holder. It's a neat way to keep them. I have one from WDW that is almost full so I'll be getting a DL one on my next trip.

My sister collects the smashed pennies and everytime we go she still manages to get new ones. I think you can get a list of the locals at town hall, but I think half the thrill is the hunt, pirate:

Here's a great tip someone else shared w/ me:

Buy a couple of the Mini M&Ms candies and SAVE the plastic containers they come in. They are the perfect size for quarters and keep your change all in one place. Since the penny press machines are (were) 51cents we put in 2 quarters and a penny and then stacked our change that way in the containers. It worked great!

We found tons of machines in a shop near the ice cream parlor on MainStreet.

That container is a great idea. I've never made a smashed penny but might have to try a few next time. That's the problem with this board-it puts new ideas in my head for new manias. Sometimes I feel like Mr. Toad! :rotfl:

My brother went a bit overboard when we went and ended up getting all but 2 of the pressed coins. He got pennies, nickels, dimes, qaurters, and 3 or 4 of the books to organize and hold them all. He spent at least $80 doing it so it can be expensive if you are going for them all. It can also be time consuming but he had a blast. He had to go back to some machines several times because they kept breaking and he was getting all three out of each machine. He even went to get the ones in the hotels. The only reason he didn't get a complete set was because two of the machines didn't get fixed in time.

This is DD 9s new obsession.....I guess I need to scrounge up some coins for her for next weekend. :) She really likes getting these, she checks the machines and if there is one she likes she gets it.
