Pengin and Princess storm the castle! The Final Chapter!-O'Hana, Lost & Found, & DTD

Great day Lynda and thank goodness your DH managed to get another FP I really don't see what the problem was either :confused3: That note is so funny I haven't got a clue either though  I wish I liked coconut as that school bread looks so nice!

The picture of your dh with the mini sombrero is too funny! I have been trying to think of what lectrine could be and I'm stumped! You certainly have an unusual suviner.....ok, I know that's not how you spell that but I've tried several diffrent ways and none of them look right.

Thanks! We were cracking up after that one. Just before that, he tried on the big sombrero, and yes, I do have a picture of it as well, but the tiny one is funnier. :lmao: He tries on a lot of hats at shops! We have a series of those pics - him in the sombreros, a hat in Germany, the snowman Mickey hat, and a princess hat! It is becoming one of our traditions, I guess! :rotfl: And yes, the note is quite the unusual souvenier (I believe that's the right spelling. It's a weird word, really. )! The note will be making another appearance in the last installment too! ;)

Well, I would have been fine either way. I didn't NEED to ride it again, but it sure was nice. :goodvibes And guess I really just didn't understand why it was such a big deal. The note - I swear, we laugh about it still! Heck, I laugh about it every time I think about it! That school bread is amazing! I love coconut though. But my first love was actually the berry tarts - they are WONDERFUL! :cloud9: I just discovered school bread on this last trip. Man, is it time to go again yet?

Great , Great , Great
i love it all the pictures are way cute (esp your DH with the sombrero i don't think i could get mine to do that ,we will have to see when we go...) sad that your trip is almost over , and as far as your souvenir i have absolutely no idea but that is a funny mystery...

Could it be LISTERINE?! I mean literin could be how someone would spell it...so any sort of mouthwash? A bottle that looked like that? Maybe she spilled out a little bit and cleaned it up? The ONLY reason I am guessing that is cause last night dh had "listerin" on the grocery list (or at least that is what it looked like to me). Whatever it said, I was :rotfl: trying to figure it out! Thanks for sharing the mystery! ;)

Also, I love the rest of the pictures (of course). They are great! Keep it coming! SNIFF SNIFF...even though you are almost to the end. I enjoy reading the updates!

 I tell you what - DH does NOT like to have his picture taken, but we walk into these shops, and he puts on these hats, and I say "WAIT!" and whip out the camera uber-fast, and like I said, it has become something of a tradition now, so we just have to have a picture of it when he does it. :rotfl: It IS sad that it's almost over, isn't it? At least I am leading into a new trip. Part of me can't wait to finish this report so I can start my new one, even though part of me is sad that this one is ending.

I don't think we had thought of Listerine, but we don't use that brand, and I'm actually not sure we had any out in the room at that time. I will have to ask DH later though. That's a good thought! And that's funny about your shopping list! :lmao:

Thanks! And thanks for sticking around even though it has taken me so long to write it! :) There's more to come, and there will be a new TR started pretty much as soon as this one ends. Although, I may catch up a little on my TR reading first. Like yours for example! I am so far behind. There must be at least 5 trip reports I need to read!

When I was leaving CBR in November, I cried like a little girl :sad1:
That was until I found out that dbf loves disney as much as I do and told me to immediately book another trip.
After my July trip - I am seriously considering the DVC. And to see how much you get out of it makes me want it that much more -- :thumbsup2

Welcome to the trip report DEAR!

Everyone, this is DH. DH, this is everyone!

Sad it's over soon, but happy that you will be starting a new one...right?

Ok, you have me wanting DVC sooooo badly! I've thought about it then realized that it isn't the right time a bajillion times. Well I'm convinced now. After I finish my master's, get a house and work for a year or so, I'm buying! Do I owe you a commission or something? Hey aren't you planning on moving to Orlando and working there? Maybe by the time I buy, your DH can be my DVC advisor or whatever they're called.

Anywho, another great installment with equally beautiful pictures! :thumbsup2

Great installment Lynda! (as per usual!!!) :cool1:

My DH puts on all the silly hats as well. Must be it's a "man thing". :rotfl2:

I read the note 3 times and did think Listerine as well. (Only thing that jumped at me.) Glad you figured it out!!!

Waiting to hear about your last day, the trip home and how that ankle is doing! Soon please?!? :yay:

Listerine does make sense! I feel so relieved because I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure out what it could mean! I know, I really need to get a life! Does anyone have one I can borrow??
The picture of the school bread and tarts made me drool all over the keyboard! 33 days and I'm gonna get me some!

I have been reading your trip report on and off for the last two days and I am hooked! I loved reading about your trip! You are a great writer. I am sorry that you hurt your ankle but you handled it well. I guess you can't keep a true Disney fan down. I love your photography! POFQ and PORS have a lot of beautiful areas to photograph as well. I hear you on the trouble with finding shorts that are not too short. I too, lived in capris last year and I probably will this year too. I haven't looked for them at Old Navy before so I might try that this year. I am already looking forward to your next trip report!:cool1:

:) Yeah, I hate leaving! It is a little better since we bought DVC, and we are going 2-3 times a year though! We won't be using our DVC points for the September/October trip because of the free dining, but we really do get so much out of the DVC membership!

Sad it's over soon, but happy that you will be starting a new one...right?

Yes, I WILL be starting a new one! :) And yeah, maybe we will be down there with DH working as a DVC guide by then! :rotfl: Thanks about the pictures! :)

It must be a man thing! That's funny! :rotfl:

I can't believe it was that simple! We never buy actual Listerine, but DH had bought the travel size for this trip. That's too funny!

It will be soon! How about tomorrow? :confused3 ;)

Thank you so much! :) We did stay at POR in Feb '06, and you are right! Beautiful grounds! I can't wait to take some more photos in that area. Hope Old Navy works out for ya! And the next TR will be coming soon-ish! ;)

Well, DH being the ever-keen spotter of CM’s with pins, spotted a CM walking towards us to accost. As we were approaching him, I noticed his attire. We had not really seen this attire much this week, although we had been hoping to. This was a Dream Squad member! :dance3: I didn’t even have a chance to say anything, but DH and I exchanged a glance that meant we both knew. DH asked to see his pins...

LOL! :lmao: This was us in December! Brenna was our bait - every time we saw a Dream Squad CM, we sent our youngest/cutest one over to pin trade with them, and then we'd slowly walk up and start a conversation. We did the same thing with any Disney managers that we saw. They have the best pins, afterall! :rolleyes1

So, you guys liked the Behind the Seeds Tour? We've been thinking about doing that tour someday. How long does it last? I'm sad that your TR is almost over! :sad1: So, you're going Sept/Oct this year? What day do you leave in Oct? We don't arrive until Oct. 5th...

Have a great weekend!
-Michelle

:rotfl: Funny you do that too! We hardly saw any Dream Squad members all week. I think this was actually the only one! So, we were excited, to say the least. :rotfl: Managers DO have the best pins! Our friend Jill taught us that one. ;)

We did like it a lot. I think it only takes about 45 minutes for that tour. For the price, it was a very fun and different way to see The Land! (And that's my favorite Future World pavilion!)

Our Sept/Oct dates are...9/28-10/6! ;)

You have a great weekend too! :)

And now, the final chapter...

So, this is our final day. :sad1: Our wake up call came at 7:00 am. The ankle was about the same, maybe slightly better. I had pretty much determined that this would be a pattern at this point - slow healing from here on out. I still had some pretty decent swelling, and I had to go back to work on Monday! I was concerned about driving, and at the same time I didn’t really want DH driving all 16 hours of the trip home himself! (And neither did he for that matter! ) My thought was I would try when the time came and see how I did. Plus, I would have to drive myself to work on Monday. So, hopefully I could handle it! I did tell DH that I wanted to try it at a time when I could use cruise control though.

We had packed the night before, so we packed up the van after we got ready to go, and we drove over to the Poly. After valet parking the van (I love the DDE cards!:thumbsup2 ), we checked in for our 8:30 ressie at O’Hana. Jill called and said she was on her way. We decided to wait for her to get there to take the photo. I took a couple of pictures while we waited. Here's one...

122898146-L.jpg

Jill arrived, we had our picture taken, and we were seated. Jill asked the hostess if a particular manager was there that day. She was told he was, so she asked to have him sent out to our table. She knew him. They were both going to be in an upcoming wedding. We were seated next to a window, and they brought us our juice and pineapple bread. The pineapple bread is heavenly folks! :cloud9: It is one of the reasons this is my favorite character meal. The manager came out to talk to Jill, and while we were talking, Mickey and Stitch come by to visit! My faves! And another reason this is my favorite character meal.

122898411-L.jpg

DH showed this manager the note that Mousekeeping had left the day before. He also found it quite amusing, if not disturbing. He stared at it for a while, and he suggested we call SSR to ask about it. (Which we didn’t do.)

Side note: I find that whole interaction a little MORE comical now that we actually know the meaning of the note, I think. :rotfl:

Another CM came up to him while he was talking to us and asked him a question. He explained, when he was done, that in the large party that had just been seated a few tables away, there was going to be a proposal! :goodvibes How cool! (We wouldn’t be there long enough to see this though.) They brought our picture by, and it was actually good, so we bought it and gave one of the smaller pics in the package to Jill. And the manager took it to get it autographed by all the characters for us while we enjoyed our meal! :woohoo: I really love the food here too…you guessed it - another reason this is my favorite character meal! We told Jill about the mugs, and she suggested we walk over to lost and found after breakfast. It is at the kennel, and that is a short walk from the Poly. At the end of the meal, Jill asked about getting a to-go container for some pineapple bread for me (which they normally don’t do!), and the waitress brought us a couple containers! :yay: Usually, I wrap a couple pieces in napkins and throw them in my backpack. I just have to have a little for the road!

We finished breakfast, got our signed photos, and we walked over to the kennel. (Oh, the final reason that O’Hana is my favorite character meal - it’s at the Poly with that tropical theme, and I LOVE tropical!:beach: ) Jill used to be a CM, so she knows her way around, and she did the talking at lost and found, and our mugs were…FOUND! :thumbsup2 So, we walked back to the Poly, and DH went to get the car from valet while I sat on a bench with Jill. While we were sitting there, I got the call from the CM who was helping us book the September trip with free dining. There was a problem, and the trip was going to be considerably more expensive than we had discussed. It didn’t make any sense. (It was almost twice as much! :scared1: ) We had checked the prices online ourselves, and she had struggled a bit when trying to quote us a price the other evening, so I told her DH was getting the van from valet, and I would have to talk to him. By this time the van was being pulled up, and Jill went to get her car. (We were meeting her over at DTD for a little last minute shopping.) I told DH that the CM is on the phone and briefly what she had said and gave him the phone. He talked to her for a bit, repeating what it was we wanted…POFQ, arriving on 9/29, departing on 10/6, free dining of course, & four 1-day base tickets...Ding, ding, ding! Oh, she ran it with four tickets for the length of stay! :headache: The same thing she had done when we talked to her the other night, and we told her that we have AP’s & the other two won’t be staying the entire time, and she wrote it down! But that’s OK. All would be well now! She told DH she would call him back in a while with a confirmation number. Apparently they were still having some computer issues.

We arrived at DTD, found Jill, and headed to World of Disney. After looking around for a bit, we grabbed the few items we wanted, a few Christmas beanies of Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, & Goofy, and we got in the slowest moving line in the universe! It was insane! I mean, they were swamped, and the woman behind the register was moving at the speed of smell :faint: and wrapping T-shirts in tissue paper before placing them in the bags. At least she was thorough. Jill went to try another register while I waited. Jill came back after a while (successful), and I was still in line! Finally, we made it through the line, and we went over to the Christmas shop & the Art of Disney store. After that, Jill said she wanted to pick up a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich to take for the trip home, so DH and I headed over to Pin Central. We browsed the collectors’ books outside, had nothing they wanted of course, and went inside to find that they were about to open up the trading board. :thumbsup2 We got in line quickly, and the line moved quickly as each person only had about 30 second to swap 2 pins from the board. We quickly made our choices when it was our turn (I managed to point one out to DH that we needed when he was struggling. ;)), and Jill came up and went through the line as well. We walked out to the parking lot with Jill and told her where we had parked so she could pull her car around. We had her mug and “minute cake” for her. (She had never had “minute cake“, and I brought her some as she had requested.) Hugs and bye to Jill again. :sad1:

DH and I got in the van. It was downright hot! The van confirmed it. It was 86 degrees! We drove over to SSR because I needed to exchange the 15th anniversary DVC T-shirt I bought at BC. I had somehow ended up with a size too small. I also wanted to get another Pal Mickey because mine was the 50th anniversary edition and was starting to get dirty on the hands, so I wanted to have one to use and one to hold back for souvenir purposes. Plus, the new one came with the Sorcerer Mickey clothes, which you can’t buy separately! (I am a bit of a dork. ) I took a few pictures.

139923370-L.jpg

And we hit the road for the trip home  , DH driving for the time being. In Gainesville, we got stuck on the interstate from 2:45 ‘til 4:20! :headache: Yes, that’s right, 1 hour and 35 minutes! (I wrote it down so I would remember.) While we were waiting there, I ate the pineapple bread we had brought with us. We hadn’t eaten lunch yet! And I worked on making notes in my PassPorter, which is sitting next to me right now for reference and has been most of the time I have been writing this report.

The rest of the drive home was pretty uneventful. I managed to drive a bit, using cruise control. It wasn’t fun, but I did it. We stayed in Dalton, GA that night and drove the rest of the way home the next day. Mom, the puppy, and the kitty were all fine. Nothing crazy happened in our absence. We unpacked the van and began the process of returning to normal daily life. Bleh! We did discover that we had forgotten our photos at O’Hana even though I could have sworn I put them in my backpack camera bag. DH called, and we were sent replacement pics, and I talked to Jill, who talked to her manager friend, and she has a sleeve for the photos autographed by all the characters waiting for us when we see her next. :wizard: We also discovered that the MVMCP ornament we bought was broken. We had it sent to our room, and the CM who checked us out had wrapped it in the green receipt slip! :sad2: (This we didn’t get replaced.) Also, the scarf we had purchased for FIL still had the security tag on it. (This we sent back to Disney, they removed the tag, and returned it to us.:thumbsup2 )

At least we could take solace in knowing that we would be back in May for our 5th wedding anniversary. (Pre-trip coming soon) We are going to try Old Key West for that trip. We have never been there before, and we're excited to stay someplace new.

My ankle is much better now than it was. I went to the doctor the week we came home. (Not my regular doctor though.) She determined that it was just a bad sprain. I continued to wrap my ankle and limp for a few of weeks. I even wore tennis shoes to work for about a week. (Not part of our dress code, but my boss approved it.:) ) I have a touch of swelling left, but it is quite small, hardly noticeable. I haven’t worn heels since we returned from the trip, but I am going to try that soon - probably in May. All in all, I feel like it is pretty well healed. I think the real test will be our May trip, although I have been walking at least 30 minutes a day, about 5 days a week for the past 3 weeks, and the only thing I have noticed is that I think the muscles in that leg are a bit weak from using the other leg so much, so I am trying to correct that.

Since we returned from WDW, the AKL Villa sales have opened, and DH did add on 100 points on to our DVC membership for a total of 250 points! :scared1: :woohoo: I never thought we would add on that much, but there was a promotion for extra one-time use points, so we took advantage of it.

We also added a night to our Sept/Oct trip at POFQ so that we could take advantage of the DDP for an additional night & not have to stay offsite the first night we are there. So our dates for that trip are now 9/28-10/06 at POFQ. :woohoo:

Just this week, we learned that FIL and SMIL will once again NOT be going with us to WDW! Yes, they cancelled again for the Sept/Oct trip! So, we are in the process of deciding whether to invite someone else or not, and if so, who. It will be fine no matter what we decide, I am sure. It’s WDW for crying out loud! :teeth:

I have REALLY enjoyed writing this report! I will be able to remember so much from this trip for years because I wrote it all down, and I have loved reliving the trip and sharing it all with all of my readers. And I thank you all for reading it! :goodvibes I hope you have enjoyed it. And I hope you will return for my next trip report!

Lynda I'm so sad your TR is over I've loved reading about all your adventures. So pleased your ankle is nearly better it has taken ages to heal hasn't it! One thing I've never heard the expression slower than the speed of smell I'll have to remember that one :lmao:

Can't wait for your Pre TR to start :thumbsup2
