Today, there are more than 10 million Americans living with cancer. Chances are you know some of them. Cancer touches us all. As a Peloton Project member, I am raising awareness and funds to help the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) fulfill its mission to prevent cancer from controlling people's lives.

Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the LAF believes that in the battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power, and attitude is everything. From the moment of diagnosis, the Foundation provides the practical information and tools people living with cancer need to live strong. Your donation to the Peloton Project will help the LAF support people affected by cancer through advocacy, research, education and public health programs.

As of 3/12/2005, I'm about 12% of the way to my goal of raising $7,500 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation in 2005. I'll be riding again in the Ride for the Roses in Austin, Texas.

I had someone ask today, "What is the Peloton Project?" I'm glad to have been asked, since I hadn't realized I didn't explain.

The Peloton Project is the Lance Armstrong Foundation's major grassroots fundraising and outreach initiative that brings together a diverse group of volunteers dedicated to helping people living with cancer live strong. In 2004, 7,200 Peloton Project members in all 50 states and in 21 countries collected more than $5.6 million in donations to help the LAF fulfill its mission to prevent cancer from controlling people's lives.
