PeepsII-The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Feb 2010. 12/2-Part 2 has begun.

holy high flight prices!!! WOW! And congrats on AKV! I was going back and forth about where to stay too and AKV was definitely at the top of the list.

I hope they at least get to the 300's.

I liked the idea of OKW. I like that tropical, laid back feel for sure. However, AKV is new and the rooms look really nice and comfortable. I have a standard view so I will probably have a view of the parking lot, but I don't really care.

Congrats on AKV, that will be awesome.
I'm so glad they open the 180 window back up.

I'm glad they did too.

They will also have the hours up 6 months out like they used to:thumbsup2

Oh my! Those flight prices are insane! I hope they go down.

We're dealing with the same thing right now for our flights to Charleston for Christmas (DH's grandparents live there). They keep going up, up, up and we still haven't bought! :scared1:

Yay for AKV!

Adorable pics of you and Erin!

I do hope they go down as well...we'll see though.

I LOVE the pix with me and Erin. I miss those days. She's a lot to handle, but soooo much fun too and super smart.

:scared1: On the airfare!

Great news about AKV! See my ticker...as you can see we aren't going back for a while, but look where we are going to stay:banana: Jimmy LOVES animals, so I think he is going to love it!

I love those pics of you and Erin!

I did see your ticker. After this trip in Feb it'll be almost 2 1/2 years before I go again. I have to save alot of money for my 2012 Peep Fest which will probably put me out 10K when it's all said and done.

Airfare Roulette. I like that. I don't like that the prices are so whacked out. UGH. It was like that when I was trying to buy flights for September.

Congrats on AKL! You are going to love it I think!

L, it's crazy! It's almost like you have to check every day and multiple times a day.

I've been to AKL for dinner and I've had friends who stayed there so I know what the rooms look like. I like the idea of being so close to my favorite theme park.

Jordan! Your In-box - oh no! Do you have a church secretary? She could at least open the mail and be trained what you need to see and what she can throw away or deal with for you. I'm glad you took some time off!

I am the Church Administrator:rotfl2: I'll make sure I tell me to get with the program....:rotfl2: Doing admin is just one of the many hats I wear here at church.

So no Gene? Well at least you know now.
Yay for Kidani!!!! I love that resort!

I may still try and get one more person for the Pop portion of my trip. don't know who that will be, but it would defer some of the costs for sure.

Can't wait to stay there. I spent a ton of time last night "exploring" the resort virtually.

tammie said:
For airfares, you might know this, but always delete your cookies before looking - somehow the sites will just keep showing you higher and higher rates so you'll panic and book cuz "rates are going up!" I'm going through sticker shock trying to get tickets at Christmas time to see my kids in Texas.:scared1:

I didn't know that. Thanks SO much for that information!

tammie said:
Love the pics of you and Erin - thanks for the memories!

Can you believe it's almost been 2 years since the last trip? Time flies.

Ooo...Congrats on Kidani-we walked over there from Jambo House-you'll love it...:woohoo: -might have to rethink some of those ressies...Jiko, Boma and Sanaa are awfully good...:thumbsup2

It looks spectacular from all the pix I've seen online! I am getting super excited.

PPP said:

Oh...Jordan...just you wait till Erin gets even older and young gentlemen come into the picture...;)...then you'll know what not little anymore really is...:rolleyes1

I have a niece who's 19 and dating someone seriously. I like him and we get along, but sometimes I see pix of them posing in their bathing suits, hanging on each other....I get a bit sick to my stomach.

PPP said:

Little protective much...?......This was Eric's reaction watching Emily go from 11 to 12 to 13 to 14 to almost 15....

:goodvibes...:)...:confused3......:scared1:...

(Luckily for his health-physical and mental-I think he's stablized...:lmao:

I laughed when I read that. I am very protective of my nieces and nephews.

Yikes! Fingers crossed for you to win airfare roulette!

Spinning that wheel right now.

Sooo glad I don't have to deal with making ADRs myself (our wicked TA does them for us). Maybe you would have better luck making the ADRs online instead of calling WDW directly?

The ADRs sound great! I'm now a huge fan of TS meals!

I am afraid the online system will be overloaded the morning of the 27th...we'll see. Wendy will be making them.

For the solo portion of my trip, I don't think it'll be too bad as I'm pretty flexible.

Lisa said:
Yahooty!!! How awesome is that?!?! :dance3:

Can't wait!

Awww, adorable pictures! A little princess: and a big pirate: uncle! Maybe there's something wrong with me, but I don't get all misty-eyed looking back :confused3 Yep, probably something wrong with me

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

there you go rubbing it in again.:rotfl2:

I've checked flight prices for feb too and found the same thing, flying from Seattle. I've never paid more than $300 before.....So the $499 I was quoted the other day was a surprise.

I love those pictures of you with Erin! Those kids are so lucky to have uncle Jordy.

I'm hoping they go down, but even the prices for the same flights 2 and 3 months out are about 100-150 dollars more than they were just 2-3 weeks ago.

Wow, Jordan you've been a busy guy. I'm glad you were able to talk with some church leaders about your concerns. Hopefully it will make a difference in your work load or at least your interactions with your Senior Pastor.

Thanks for the peek at DTD California style. I'm so stinkin jealous!

Congrats on AKL and I'll be hoping that those flight prices go down. I'd hate to have you lose at airfare roulette.

I am actually working on an action plan with some of the church leaders right now to alleviate some confusion with my job.

DTD Anaheim is really a nice place to hangout. It definitely has a different vibe than WDW.

I am hoping not to lose out at Airfare Roulette either. Wish me luck.

If there is an ESPN zone (near us) in Houston, I KNOW we'll be there for our beloved Saints and LSU! That sounds fun.

Disney Quest from a family with 3 females and 1 male-we give it a 2(with 5 being the best) out of 5! It was just TOO much of a teaser of the rides we had yet to go on! And not half as good. There is a Buzz Lightyear ride in there that is kinda neat, but we weren't very good at it! The virtual Magic Carpet thingy was kinda neat too. We wanted to do POTC thing in there but hubby started feeling bad and I was worried so we left. I forgot to mention that in my TR- but he was oka the rest of the trip- I think it was being up since 4:30am and the rain and heat etc.... but we were all pooped so we were there like a total of 2 hours or so. Maybe less.

I am looking forward to your thoughts about the place. I am sure we missed a lot. The booths that you can make your own song- well 2 were not working correctly and that was something my singing-happy girl/s would have liked to complete.

I've been to DQ before, I don't rate it much higher than you. I do like the old school video games like Centipede and PacMan though. The POTC attraction there is sick. I could play that all day. You do work up a sweat though.

Go Drew Brees. Our household roots for the Saints because Drew is an ex-Charger.

Hmmn. Using Alaska's handy dandy low fare calculator, in that general time frame from Seattle I come up with $388. I don't know your exact date for flights but in Feb there are only 3 high rate dates 2/15, 2/20 and 2/21. Of course you'd have to get up here to make that one work. lol.

VERY odd that LA would be so much higher and you are right, it is!

I love the idea of an AKL trifecta. YUM!

adorable pictures.

I'm don't know when I should buy. I think that 325 is a good price, but what if it never gets below 375 and I wait for the 325 price only to have it go higher..Roulette for sure.

Sanaa for sure.
Jiko 50/50.
Boma iffy.

I remember being in your same boat a year ago. I waited until 12/26 for a 2/12 departure but it was nerve wracking. It paid off but talk about stress! I watched farecast (bing) like a hawk and it paid off. I plan to do it again this time...

I completely agree on Sanaa, it's a must do this trip for me. I wouldn't mind skipping buffets entirely though...

I hate waiting. I like stuff buttoned up at least 3 months before I go. We'll see how long I last w/o just caving a buying a ticket.

I'm with you on the buffets, although I hear Tusker House and Boma are 2 of the best ones on property.

Boma was actually Jeff's favorite meal and for as much as I don't like buffets, it was up there for me as well. Top 3 I'd say. Their soups are something else.

I have Tusker House down as a back up to Sanaa but I really hope I don't have to go there!

Chapter 30. Ouch!

Airfare nightmare come true
So airfares nowadays are so unpredictable. A few weeks ago I could've had an airfare in the high 300's. I've continued to check and it's bounced between 470 and 670! 670! Are you crazy? I know we're still a little over 4 months out, so I'm hoping that prices will at least drop to the mid 300s. Wish me luck in what I'm now gonna call AIRFARE ROULETTE.

ADRs
If you haven't heard already(like you've been hiding under a rock), the ADR window is going back to 180 days on October 27th. Our trip falls in that timeframe so we can make our ADRs on October 27th. What do you think our chances of getting a hold of someone....? What do you think the chances of the online system crashing?

So Wendy and I have begun talking about ADRs. I'm doing the QSDP, so I'm mostly helping them with theirs. Here's what we've coming up with so far:

Saturday, Feb 6th: No TS if so, it's OOP
Sunday, Feb 7th: The Wave
Monday, Feb 8th: Coral Reef
Tuesday, Feb 9th: No TS
Wednesday, Feb 10th: Prime Time-Lunch, Ohana-dinner
Thursday, Feb 11th: Chef Mickey's-Dinner
Friday, Feb 12th: California Grill
Saturday, Feb 13th: Teppan Edo

I will be joining the gang for Coral Reef, Prime Time and Teppan Edo and then doing the DDP for the 4 solo days of my trip. I haven't made up my mind where I'm going to eat because as of right now I don't know whether I'll be at OKW or AKV-Kidani Village......

or do I?

Accommodations
So Wendy calls me about 45 minutes ago with the news that the waitlist has come through!!!!!!! So no more OKW (I am a bit sad about this), I am now set for accommodations as I am now in a standard studio at AKV-Kidani Village!!!!!!!

Now I have all new planning and adjusting to do. I may be able to do the AK trifecta now--Sanaa, Boma and Jiko!!!!! We'll see, as I have so many places I want to go to.....

I'm psyched to stay somewhere new and I LOVE Animal Kingdom so it will be nice to be close.

I had done an itinerary with me staying at OKW...now I have to re-do it...but in a good way....

misting up a bit. Erin's not that little girl anymore.....still innocent and sweet, just older.......I'm glad I'm not a parent I'd be crying all the time.

 (Don't have the barfy smiley) on those airfares. :faint: Keep checking. Are you getting sidestep.com's daily email alerts?

:thumbsup2 Like the ADRs. :woohoo: We'll be trying Teppan Edo for the first time this next trip. I will be anxious for your review.

Loved AKV but honestly, it's way the hell out there. But you will have Boma close by. :cloud9:

YAY for getting AKV!!! :cool1: That stinks about the airfare. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it dips back down for you soon.

LOVE your DTD pics!!! Brought back some fond memories from my not-so-distant past. :thumbsup2 Although, it was a bit more crowded when we were there. That's crazy that it was so dead. Is it too much for me to hope that's what WDW looks like when we arrive tomorrow? :rolleyes1

Those pics of you and Erin are priceless. I misted up!

LOL. I've heard great things about Tusker House. However, they've said it's just like Boma w/o as much selection or diverse flavors.

Boma is still on my short list, but I can't get Kouzzina off my mind. It sounds great.

I'll sign up right now. Thanks for the info.

I know Wendy and Derek have had good meals there. I'm usually watching the kids. I know that I've read 2 TRs recently that reported that Teppan Edo was good.[/QUOTE]

That's probably my one beef with AKV, but AK is my favorite theme park so hopefully I can work that to my advantage.

I am familiar with the cab system as I've used it to get back from ESPN Club to Pop and VWL. So if I'm caught somewhere where I can't get back taking a bus, I know I can catch a cab. I just have to budget for it.

I can't believe you're leaving tomorrow!

Can you believe how dead DTD was? It was like a ghost town. It was sooo nice. Actually, here's the trick with DTD. Apparently, try and go during the day right when it opens and do it on a Monday or Tuesday when everyone else is in the parks. This is what I've read on different WDW websites.

I love the Erin pix! I don't remember what we were talking about, but we were swinging our hands back and forth...I love that little girl.

I'll sign up right now. Thanks for the info.

And you call yourself a computer geek. Oh wait, maybe I call you that? :rotfl2: You are seriously going to want to shove your tongue down my throat for showing you sidestep's daily email alerts. I scored our $200 RT to Florida and our $250 RT to Cabo through them!

Perfect. We love AKV too and if you end up getting a SV, you will think you died and went to Disney heaven. :cloud9:

200 RT? Wow! Here's to hoping. I am so not a computer or technology person. I'm so atypical Asian it's not even funny. All the people a church say I am a banana==yellow on the outside, white on the inside. What can you do?

We had a Value view, and got upgraded to SV. pixiedust:

Jackie, I knew you would be thrilled.:)

I know for sure Sanaa will be on there and probably Jiko. Don't know if I can fit Boma in there because I want to try Kouzzina at the Boardwalk.

I miss those days with Erin. I don't see her as often as I did when I was the babysitter..

I would like to try Kouzzina, too -- I am very intrigued by the menu!

Don't forget to try and sample the Mara for quick service -- the chicken flatbread is delicious!

Hopefully you will be getting some more great pictures with Erin in February! :goodvibes

Hey Jordan,

Finally got caught up here! Let's recap!

Well it sounds like an interesting cast of characters coming/may be coming. I am envious of the time you get to spend there by yourself – I’d love to just wander with my camera through the parks. Very cool that Wendy has already signed on …amazing the different accommodation arrangement scenarios you’ve already spelled out with just the addition of her and Allan – lol

No cheese in China???? :confused3 Ooooo, it’ll be hard to get me there then. Oh wait, they have a Pizza Hut – it’s all good then Seriously though, the food looked wonderful there. Interesting bathroom-related facts too! Cool monkeys and great shots of the lantern festival. Cool shots from Beijing too – amazing architecture for the Olympics. How cool that you brought the kids along for the trip, even if it was “flat” style :)

That is great that you have some of the “younger” folks from your church on board to go! Sounds like it is going to be a well-populated trip for sure. Already planning for your 50th aye? Well don’t feel too self-conscious about planning so far in advance. I’ve already started preliminary plans for a 2012 Alaskan Cruise on the Disney Wonder (sorry I won’t be there for you, but I’ll say a toast for ya if we’re traveling at the same time – hehe). Nice score on the 4Runner – those are good, solid vehicles :thumbsup2

Yes, I remember Coming to America …that scene where his parents get up from sitting on the couch and leave a stain on it from the backs of their Jerri-curled heads always sticks in my mind. That and Sexual Chocolate :rotfl2: And yes, WDW did a great job with the China Pavilion modeling on the Temple of Heaven. Great temple shots overall and way to give some power to whitey ;)

Thank you and KathyRN for giving our disorder a name – all hail those with OTP!!! Nice research on crowds and conventions and good luck with the cheerleaders. What a busy summer you had with all of the church activities. Kudos for keeping you head during all of those long days/weeks.

Great Disney mojo on Wendy getting the BLT upgrade she wanted. And ROCKIN’ that she shared her Disney mojo by booking you the BWV room for the 14-18th!!! :woohoo:

You live in SoCal without central air? Good gravy man how do you handle it? :headache:

More great China pics, and yes – I’ve seen the Bizarre Foods episode on that street. The people working the counter look so very happy. Spicy Grandma??? ROFL! Nice furry crocs :D Whoohoo for making it to the Great Wall – and what stamina you had making it up to the top of that part of the wall on the hill. Worth it for the view though.

Nice shots in the travel isle at Target and cool idea about the TR game! Fun stuff. Nice haircut from camp btw ;-]

Ahhh Scottsdale, the “moneyed” community of Phoenix (I lived in Tucson for 10yrs and Phoenix for about a year and a half). Beautiful resorts and landscaping, but you guys were ABSOLUTELY NUTS for going there in the summer! Nice choice with the Widmer Hef to end the first day. Second day was hilarious, “I’m sooo busted” :lmao:

Nice segway to changing your end of trip reservation to OKW resort :thumbsup2

More work overload – yikes! Funny that your friends from church can’t bring themselves to just say they’re not going despite you giving them an easy out. And very cool that you will be able to meet up with your old friend Tom.

Well that brings me mostly up to speed. Good for you for getting some time off and enjoying the outdoors and DTD! Nice shot of the backside of water at DLH.

Good luck with the airfare, we tried waiting it out for our flight down to LAX from Oregon and it just kept going up. Finally had to commit. Nice mix of ADR choices – I still have to do Ohanas. Bummer about OKW falling through, but I’m sure AKV will be rockin’ Have fun re-doing the itinerary! Oh, and wonderful shots of you walking with Erin :goodvibes

So glad you're back Mustard!

When's your next trip to WDW scheduled or is it a trip to DLR?

No WDW on the horizon for another five years or so :sad1:

But DLR is only 17 days away now, so we're pretty jazzed about that. Doing the whole Halloween/Trick or Treat party - whoohoo!

And in 2010 we're going to NYC to support my older daughter as she marches in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. She will be a freshman and will be playing flute, so she'll be right up front! We're really excited because it is the first time an Oregon band (college or HS) has been chosen.

2012 we have another trip in mind ...which I will answer in more detail directly below in my response to Wendy ;)

If you are gold or platinum Castaway Club members (6 or more sailings for gold, 10 or more for platinum) you can book a week ahead of the general public. So everyone else can start booking next Monday but we could book this past Monday.

Are you talking about booking Alaska for 2012? I think they're only sailing May - Sept of 2011, unless for sure the ships are coming out here and doing permanent AK cruises (which could be, I haven't researched it).

That is really cool that you get to pick your room ahead of time - get the cream of the crop :goodvibes As of the last info I read the Wonder is supposed to be stationed on the west coast permanently and will be tag-teaming the Mexican Riviera and Alaskan runs.

Here's to hoping they don't change their minds because there's no way we could tag-team a DLR trip, NYC, and the cruise on back to back years. Unless money starts growning on trees, that is :lmao:

Wish me luck in what I'm now gonna call AIRFARE ROULETTE.

Good luck. You're going to need it. I paid $265 per person R/T from CT. The potential rates for cross country is scary to think about.

Yeah...they changed it back to 180 days literally 2 days after I made mine at the NINETY day mark! I booked mine online though with no problems at all...I was pleasantly surprised. I was was expecting a lot of error messages and a big long ordeal but it was really easy.

I am now in a standard studio at AKV-Kidani Village!!!!!!!
I'm very jealous! Don't be sad about OKW...you can always try it next time!

This is my favorite one
