I met a new guy at church and he's really into Disney. He might be interested in going in 2011, but because it'll be a 3 week trip in 2012 for me (1week WDW, 1 week DCL and 4 days solo at WDW) I may to start saving now for that trip....we'll see....Oct is actually pretty slow at work.

Chapter 27. Making necessary adjustments.

So I haven't updated you all on our trip status in quite some time now. It's Labor Day and I'll be off to a BBQ in a few hours....so I thought I'd better get a trip related update posted before I left.

I sent another email to Gene and I saw him at church on Sunday and he didn't say a word to me..... I am assuming that he's not going and he feels bad for jumping ship. I prefer to be on my own, but we'll see...

Saturday, February 6th-Sunday, February 14th.

I added 4 extra nights solo:

Sunday, February 14th-Thursday, February 18th.

Accommodations

Okay here's the big news...

I finally booked my room at Pop!!!

I booked it for 8 nights. I also got the 10 day Park Hopper and Water Park Plus Option as well. You know I love Typhoon Lagoon!

I opted for the Quick Service Dining Plan. Because I'm babysitting, I'll miss 2-3TS meals and it would be too hard to make those up on my own. I will pay OOP for the 2-3 TS I do eat with the rest of the gang. It'll end up being more expensive than if I just did the DDP, but really it won't because I'd probably end up wasting 2-3 TS credits....make sense?

I will do the regular DDP during my solo 4 night stay so I can get my TS fix.

Okay more big news......

Because of my recent encounter with the Jordan of old, I felt it best to leave him in the past and move on up to my real age of 47....

Sooooo, as a result, I asked Wendy to change my DVC reservation from the BWVs to............

OLD KEY WEST!!!!!!

That's right. I am giving up (well, where there's a will, there's a way) my nights with Matt and the ESPN Club to move on over to the quiet, serene surroundings of OKW. I hear the Studios are huge and it will be nice to try a new resort. Wendy has me waitlisted for AKV, but I may ask her to drop the waitlist as I am liking the idea of quiet surroundings. Hmmm...but AKV is near my favorite park, AK......hmmmm.....well, we'll see.

So if I stay at OKW, I will have stayed at the following resorts:

Pop 3x
CBR 3x
BCV 3x
BWV 3x
VWL 1x
YC 1x
OKW 1x

Wendy has stayed at SSR and I've babysat the kids there so I count that as 1/2 a stay..

Stay tuned to see if I get my AKV waitlist. Should I keep the waitlist or not? If I gave up the waitlist, planning would be easier as I'd know for sure where I'd be. If I kept it and got AKV, I'd be closer to AK and closer to many of my fave restaurants or restaurants I want to try.......

Flights

Still too expensive at 477 out of LAX.

Out of SNA, Orange County, it's already much cheaper. However, because of the advice you all gave me, I'd only go out of SNA if the savings were substantial as I'd lose about 3-4 hours on both the first day and the last day of park time.....

Backstage Magic

I have tried and missed doing this tour my last 2 visits...3rd time is a charm....

I've heard mostly good things about OKW. I can't wait..that is unless I decide to keep the AKV waitlist and get in!

My friend is a chef so I'm expecting a feast.

I LOVE the decor and atmosphere at AKL and would expect AKV to be much the same.

I've seen the Lounge..haven't had a drink there........yet..

Of course, I'm biased toward AKL as well, since that's where we'll be staying next!

...Kind of expected Gene to drop out based upon what you've been telling us. He probably just needs to know you're okay with his situation and then he'll go back to being his old self around you.

From a park touring perspective staying at AKV would make more sense since I do love AK....we'll see where the chips fall...

We LOVE okw!!! But I'm sure you already knew that. Everytime we plan to stay somewhere else we always end up there. We like the quietness and serenity of it. We sleep good there.

Anyhoo, I'm so unbelievably jealous that we can't go during February this year. DS started kindergarten and while some of your stay is during our 2 day mardi gras break from school (plus 2 days for the weekend), it still does not mesh with dh's work schedule. It is driving me NUTS!! I can't believe that we can't go again until June. I have been needing to remind myself that we are very lucky that we can go at all and to stop whining!

I've read great things about OKW, but I would stay on the waitlist for AKV. Since AK is your favorite park, it would be so convenient for you.

As for the flights, I would wait and see if prices lower from LAX. Why lose park time if you don't have to? Does JetBlue fly from LAX to MCO?
