Hey Jordan I made it over. I had a lot of catching up to do. The last update the kids looked really cute.
I will try to stay caught up.
Okay Jordan thanks for the link and the PM!! Eventually I would have got far enough down my threads to realise you were closed!! Iam up to Page 3 so going back to read and get my count up along the way!!![]()
Solo trip....it's really fun......
Obnoxious...look who you're tallking to.
And here I am making an important phone call to the Powers That Be at WDW:
![]()
If you know our group by now. I think we're more interested in taking crazy pix than we are actually enjoying the park itself...but heck that's half the fun.
Here I am on the Trek:
![]()
How we get Erin to do all these things I don't know. It must be in the genes:
![]()
And finally Dylan gets in on the action. He looks a little less enthralled with the whole "Let's take a crazy picture":

Here's me doing my ape imitation:

I've got to go to work, I wonder how many pages I'll have to catch up on when I get home?
Dude, this is the problem with living on the East Coast. I wake up to a new TR with 6 pages already, and an update.![]()
Oh, and I think this would make a great flat Jordan:

Thanks for following over from Part 1.
Solo trip....it's really fun......

Hey Scott...I'm glad you're here now.....I feel better

Ask Wendy about AK and going commando...![]()
There has got to be a story there!![]()
Do we have to wait for Wendy to tell it? Remember I'm very impatient!
I remember she went commando, but don't remember why......You'll have to wait until tomorrow morning...sorry.
Wendy!! Did you go "commando" at AK????

Wendy- Can't wait for the commando story.
Those pictures of Dylan and Erin crack me upI do that to my kids all of the time (ask them to make different faces, etc.) but most of the time they do not indulge their crazy mother
![]()
How does Wendy get them to pose for so many pictures? I need her secret. My girls (especially the oldest) don't like posing for pictures at all.
You know I love those crazy pics! Just imagine the pics that Dylan and Erin will take when they grow up...
This will only be my 2nd trip to the World. I am a Land expert, having owned an AP for more years than I can count. . .I get to the land every time I make a trip back to Cali. . .of course, I have only been gone from California since August. . .lol
Actually, I get a kick out of your humor. . .and your neice and nephew are priceless. . .so accomodating for Uncle. . .lol
How did that phone call work out for ya?![]()

Thanks Jordan !!
I just hope they don't end up in therapy or Wendy and Derek will be sending me the bills...![]()
My kid probably already needs therapy. . .he called me today to tell me that we MUST stay at AKL in August because he cannot take goofy pics with the apes and other animals if we stay anywhere else. . .I am scared. . .lol
Ok, back to the story: So in 1999, on a particularly warm day in September, we found ourselves at AK. I was wearing a loose cotton-poly outfit that sort of combined tank top and shorts, and buttoned up the front - so it sort of looked like a dress but it was shorts (note: I may try to post a pic of it later - but it's really not that important). Anyway, we had gone on Kali River or something where we got all wet, and due to that fact, I tried to go in the restroom to dry off... but ended up just removing an article of clothing (I'll let you figure that out) since that wasn't going to dry as fast... (and who wants to sit around in wet clothes all day). So then I promptly told Jordan (yes, we're a weird family that way) - who's a Friends fan - "Psssst, guess what - I'm going commando" To which he appropriately responded:![]()
Ha ha ha ha ha. But it was an amusing day nonetheless.
They haven't tracked me down yet......that's a good sign. They probably have a record of my cell number.
We're crazy....just wait.....
Sorry, we got chatty.
oh oh....![]()
Ok - just a quick pop in to quell the masses. Don't get too excited, it's really not *that* great of a story... ha ha ha. Ok, about the commando story... first some background for those non-Friends fans... here's an article describing what "going commando" means.
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/11/13/1037080784799.html
Quote from the article: Asked for a personal favourite from the new phrases, Stevenson cited "go commando," which the dictionary says means to go out wearing no underwear. "We got it from the TV series Friends," he said, "and then we tracked it back to American college slang in the mid-'80s, and we reasoned that that's when the writers of Friends were probably at college. It could have been a private joke in a small group about commandos being too rough and ready to wear underpants ... it's turned into a phrase that is recognised by a global audience."

WendyO said:Get kids who are natual comedians. Ha ha ha. Or very vain. I can't recall exactly, but I think it was actually Erin's idea to do the different emotions... not on this trip but some time prior - so she's all "Mom, ok, take a picture of me scared"... "Take me sad"... "Take me happy"... etc. Dylan hasn't quite mastered the nuances of the more complex emotions, so we keep his pretty simple - happy, sad, scared, etc. Sometimes we'll make the face ourselves and he just copies us. Erin comes up with her own interpretations of the emotions we ask for. Sometimes we're all, "what? that's your scared face? what's that all about?!" Ha ha.
They already like taking pictures of things. Many times they just do it pretend (make their hands into cameras and say "cheese" and then "click") - so it's pretty funny.
Dylan: "Erin, take a picture of me saying cheese"
Erin: "Ok... (holds hands up like a camera)... say cheese"
Dylan: "Cheese"
Erin: "Click" "Ok, my turn..."
and then vice versa...
What hams they are. They find themselves amusing (wonder what relative they get THAT from?) so that lends itself to their comedic acts.
