In The Facts of Life, Mrs. Garrett has become headmistress to an exclusive girls school, Eastland. Although the series had a rocky start, including low ratings and a cast overhaul. The series went on to becomes one of the longest running sitcoms of the 80's.

In the first season the stories revolved around Mrs. Garrett and her adjustment to her new job. The first season also introduced to us seven girls, Nancy, Blair, Sue Ann, Cindy, Molly, Natalie and Tootie. At the beginning of the second season, the cast was trimmed down to Mrs. Garrett and four primary girls, Blair, Tootie, Natalie and a new girl, Jo. These four girls would remain until the end of the series with Mrs. Garrett re-marrying and leaving in 1986 and Cloris Leachman coming in to play Mrs. Garrett's sister, Beverly Ann from 1986-1988.

He does these "Get cash quick" commercials out here and he did another commercial as well.....I think he was a security guard somewhere in L.A. as well.

I guess he didn't move on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky like George.

Now I`m confused! wasnt Mrs Garrett on The Facts of Life?

She started out working for the Drummond family. But when Kimberly was at Eastland, she went to visit and got offered a job. Then she moved over to Peekskill, NY to man the kitchen at Eastland.

Yes, I am full of useless information.

Too much time on your hands....(was that a song by Styx?)

Would you believe there is actually a message board devoted to The Facts of Life show!!! :lmao: this is what I found RE: Tootie..

Q. If her name in the show was supposed to be Dorothy, why did everyone call her Tootie.

A. cause it was a nickname that was given to her. Once she got older, she used it sometimes but it wasn't until the reunion that she actually wanted everyone to call her Dorothy

OP.(OTHER POSTER) Personally I liked Tootie better than Dorothy. It was a unique nickname. Plus I liked the way Nat said it when she was upset with her.

i don't know, but i'm just going to pretend that was her real name. it's funnier that way! :snooty:

Maybe her name references those large lady lumps she gets later in the show....;)

We have a lot in common :lmao:

You do indeed.

I just googled Tootie and her real name on the show was Dorothy.

Who knew.

That's just too scary.

Yes, but does anyone else remember how later on in the show they opened a store of some sort and George Clooney played the hot, young handyman that was always helping out??? I had such a crush on him back then!!! :rolleyes1

The name of the store was Over Our Heads. They opened it when the bakery burned down. The bakery was their first business venture.
