I was wondering if any of you knew the best ER (pediatric or general that serves children)? I know there is Arnold Palmer. My daughter has lung issues and we need to know where to take her just in case she gets sick. Is there a good walk in clinic for less emergent issues?

Thanks!

Celebration Hospital has a good ER nearby. There are many walk-in clinics nearby.

But, I would ask at the front desk of your resort. And, many others reading your thread will give advice. Have a good trip.

DW had some issues with recent surgery and we were taken to the clinic over by the crossroads mall. they quickly took xrays and told us to go to Celebration Hospital as the clinic had an approximate 6 hour wait.

we got to CH via the clinic bus and DW had some initial work done by a nurse.
12 hours later for a total of 15 hours she finally saw a doctor. there were people with kids who had local doctors advise to be seen at the emergency room finally left the ER after an allnighter and went to be seen by their local personal doc.

if it isn't lifethreatening and doesn't require an MD, the ER RN's are very capable but i strongly suggest checking with the personal doc at home to make whatever preparations possible.

i'm sure you have made this plan but these central Florida hospitals fill up with elderly snowbirds; there are no more rooms and everything backs up like i've never seen in all my years.

Check out the info where Disney provides access to MDs [i think] on call.

How are the local walk in clinics for something none emergent? Our concern is that if she gets sick it can turn into pneumonia quickly and so we need a place we would be able to take her to listen to her chest, do a chest xray, prescibe antibiotics etc. She also has a g-tube so if any emergency happened with that we just want to know someplace good to go. If we are prepared then we will feel better. Hopefully all will be smooth.

Has anyone done the on call doctor thing? They come to your room?

Our there any hospitals to avoid?

I am sorry to hear about your DW experience! No fun! Most places will push little kids through faster than adults (I think/hope) but that is just ridiculous to spend 15 hours waiting to be seen!

There are several out/pt clinics in the area. They are not Disney related but the number was listed in our check in papers. They supply van service to and from your hotel. The MDs were very professionsl. All the clinics can do labs and x-rays. The one clinic I've used had a pharmacy connected the others may also. A driver one time called ahead to find out which clinic had the shortest wait. For non emergency issues they are great. They also know their limitations and don't hesitate to transfer to the Celebration Hosp.

This has been my experience.

Here is the link to Centra Care

We went to the one by AKL but many others have been to the one by DTD. The wait wasn't bad and the personnel very responsive. If they find you need more than they can provide they will direct you to the nearest ER. :thumbsup2

We had the same experience. When the driver said he was taking us to one further away , I thought great a 20 minute ride but it was only like 5 minutes. I wonder how close the closer one was.
