Hello! This is DS's first year as a tube fed kid... How do you usually get your pediasure, (we lovingly call it LVC - liquid vanilla c**p), down to WDW? Do you carry it with you on the plane? Do you mail it (seems awfully heavy for that)?

How about I just buy it down there?

Any ideas?

Sue,

How are you getting to WDW from the airport?

You're right, those cans are heavy, and will probably cause your luggage to go overweight, thus a $50 charge. And shipping them is not going to be inexpensive either.

I have two possible options for you. One is to simply use a car service and make a grocery stop between the airport and the resort.

The second is--there's a pharmacy that will deliver prescriptions to WDW resorts for free. I can't recall their name, if no one else here has it then I'll get it for you. At any rate, perhaps you could get in touch with them in advance and order what you need and have them deliver it.

They were great when my DH packed the almost empty script bottle instead of the just filled bottle of DS's meds and we realized it the first morning of a ten day stay. PANIC!! Luckily we reached his pediatrician (not the specialist who prescribed this particular med) who helped us out in a pinch by calling in an eleven day refill for us--the specialist is pretty much simply not available on weekends.

Although I do not have the problem of shipping on the plane I do know what you mean! Our DS3 is also on Pediasure and I tell you this stuff is hard to pack no matter how you travel!
We will be taking a car but will need to bring at least 1.5 cases for the week we are down there. What a pain!

I think that if your insurance covers the pediasure the should be a home care center in Orlando that you could either pick-up/deliver to the hotel. I am sure that you are not going to want to purchase this of your insurance sovers the cost. We have Airway Oxygen here in MI and they do deliveries of home care products. You might wnat to see what your Dr can do for you.

Good luck in finding the right solution,
Heather

I can't look it up from this computer, but I think Care Medical (the people who also do ecvs) carries it and would probably be able to deliver it since they are a full service medical supply house.

If you have a car, there is a Target about 15 minutes away (we visited there when I forgot my meds and had to get an emergency refill). There is also a Walmart ner by (although we have never gone there).

Just an FYI, you no longer need to fight traffic to the wal-mart over on 192. There's a new Super Wal-Mart on 27--take 192 West to teh end, turn North on Route 27 and it's about 2 miles on the right. Very little traffic, easy drive.

Coming back South on 27 take it easy on the ramp onto 192, it's sharper than it looks.

I know Turner's Drugs will deliver to any WDW resort for a $5 fee..the front desk just does a pay out to them, and then puts the total charge on your room.

Any pharmacy would be able to order it in for you, and should have it by the next day....I would take a few cans just to be on the safe side:)

HTH!!

We will be cruising on the Magic in a couple of weeks and I had the same question about packing our Pediasure. Our DD3 is tube fed and goes through almost 4 cans a day so for a 7 night cruise that is going to weigh down our luggage quite a bit. If anyone has any suggestions for cruising with a gtube fed kid I'd love to hear your tips!

Thanks! :wave2:

I would give DCL a call...I'm sure they've had experience with this:)

Have a wonderful cruise!!

If you have insurance coverage for the pedisure I would have it delivered to
where you are staying. They will do that from whereever you get yours from. But a word of advice. IT CAN'T FREEZE!! When I traveled to Poland I checked it as a carry-on and they put it up with the passenger hanging clothes section. So if you are traveling during cold months and /or/ either a long flight carry it on. the belly of the plane still gets freezing cold during high alt. travel...
Good Luck

Great tips - I am much more calm about this part of it. I will indeed call and have it delivered.

You guys are the absolute best.
