We ate here for lunch on Sunday 7/1. We got there around 11 and my husband got a table for us. He was told all the sections were closed except for two. When we left I saw something very interesting..... you could only enter through the main entrance and you had to wait to be let inside. Once you were inside you could order your food and then a seater helped your family find a table. I thought it was fabulous and wished I would have seen it more often while we were there.

The part I bolded is the key, I think, to making the "no saving seats" rule work. Glad to hear it worked well for you all!

Thats an interesting development. It is more work for Disney but I would not mind seeing it more. I have not been there during real busy times for a long time but I remember when I was a kid and we had my dad get the food while my mom and sister and I all went in different directions to try to get a table while tons of others were doing the same thing. Really a pain.

Glad to hear that it was a positive experience for you. :)

Have you guys ever been to a Sweet Tomatoes? It is a buffet type restaurant and in the low season (we are a touristy area) you can get your food and seat yourself. In the high winter season when the place it packed all the time, they have a worker seat your party. They will seat a 2 person family at a two seater so the customer does not try to grab a larger seated area (makes less room for other diners)

It works out great

We ate at Pecos Bill's earlier this week. It was find your own seat thing. I had read before I left that they were trying out the new seating policy and asked a CM who was cleaning a nearby table about it. He said it was only for the 4th of July, that they may use it for other holidays but that it was not something that was going to be year round. The have lots of seating but I saw how quickly it filled up in a short period of time.:scared1:

As a person who uses an ECV and is often solo I would be extremely happy if there was no table saving. I have had people go to a table I was aiming for and sit down having no food, while I had already gotten my food and was looking for a place to eat.

Of course I have been politely rude about it, going to such a table and ignoring the poeple who had just sat down; if they said anything to me I tell them that if someone comes with their food before I am done I will pack up what I have left and leave, but due to the length of the lines more than likely I will be done before the person on line is at the table.

I have also told them if they did not like it they could call Security.

We weren't there on the 4th, but saw them doing this.
