Has anyone ordered the tortilla chips as a side at Pecos Bill? How many did you get? I looked at photos of their new topping bar and it looks good. So I was thinking I could get 1 (or 2) orders of the chips and make my own nachos. Or get an order of the chips and the chicken enchilada soup for a light meal. Has anyone done this?

Yes. It's in a bag about the size of a paper lunch sack. They leave enough space to fold over the top a couple times.

Were the toppings as good as they looked in the photos?
Yes. I love the new options. I load up my plate with the veggies and such. I don't worry about wrapping it, I just eat it with a fork

Where did you see these photos?
Would love to see the options on the new toppings bar!

These kind of practices have led to the removal of the Fixin's bar in other places

Yeah, if I bought a full size entree I would feel no sadness loading up on toppings from the bar, lol. But OP, Hopefully is right - buying just a small bag of chips and then adding all the free toppings to it has rubbed Disney the wrong way many times, according to what I've read on these boards :( not judging on whether it's right or wrong, just telling the facts. :thumbsup2

That was not my intent. I was looking for a lighter meal without the beans and rice. I was thinking soup and chips/toppings. Or to spread the chips out and top them with various toppings like nachos. I wasn't planning to heap them on.

They actually sell nachos, so I'm sure they would rather you buy those :rotfl:the chicken tortilla soup is a side item, as well. Once again - no judgement, do what you want! Just letting you know, Disney is weird about the toppings bars. :confused3

I got the kids quesadilla and with the toppings bar it was plenty substantial.

And with the money (and tummy room) I save eating a smaller kids meal (rather than adult platter) I get a pretzel and/or Mickey bar later - so no worries, Disney still gets my $$.

I am not seeing nachos on the menu. I have had them at Casey's, but they have the "plastic"cheese.

Disney has had a fixin's bar at pecos bills forever. They knew it was happening when they put the new bar in (anyone remember advice to buy a double cheeseburger, buy an extra bun, then load up with fixin's on 2 sandwiches for the price of 1?) and I doubt the occasional person having guacamole and other toppings with their tortilla chips will lead to the demise of fixin's bar. More likely it would lead to the demise of selling tortilla chips as a side if it happens too much. Believe me, when charging $16 for counter service rice and beans with a little meat, they are making their money on the toppings as well. It is probably easier and much faster to have it serve yourself even if people take larger portions than they'd be serving behind the counter, plus the time for special orders (i want this but not that etc). Disney has been doing this a long time, they are not sad or losing money by any of it :)

Can someone please verify whether there are nachos or not? (They aren't on the menus on allears, wdwinfo or the disney food blog. I have found those sites usually update before the official site.)

the description does not sound like nachos. it sounds like a deconstructed taco. which is fine if that's what you want but you should not feel obligated to order it to use the toppings bar. People are speculating about the intent of it but as far as I know there are no signs saying that it is ONLY to be used for full meals purchased. Besides, if people are not supposed to put toppings on tortilla chips what are you supposed to do with them? eat them plain? most places sell tortilla chips with salsa or guac.

the bigger issue is that they no longer show any savory snacks on the official website - no soup, no side of chips.

Wait. That's what nachos are...right? A deconstructed taco? Lol...what are nachos where you are from? (I'm really curious, not trying to be smart!)
