Excited to be going back to Disney:cool1:
I know to email special diets for latest food information and advise of our reservations. What I am hoping for is some personal experience for snacks or restaurants where desserts were okay. I found it hard to find any baked goods so if anyone knows of some good luck they had then that would be appreciated.:)

Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. If you go to Post #3 and look at Dietary Restrictions you will see several links of reports from people concerning services received.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

When you email they will email back a list of safe snacks. I was quite surprised at the number of peanut/tree nut safe snacks, there were a lot more than I was expecting. There is a chocolate brownie that is safe and it was absolutely delicious.

I did find it a little harder at the restaurants when it came to desserts. All of the restaurants were wonderful and there was always something available or something that they would make for me that was safe, but I really didn't end up eating a lot in the dessert department. Dessert to me is chocolate, sweet, gooey, yummy, naughty and fruit doesn't cut it for me :lmao: I like fruit, but its a snack or a breakfast item, not a dessert. From what I remember all of the yummy desserts that I wanted off the menu were not safe, that doesn't mean there weren't other desserts that were ok, just not the ones I wanted :rotfl2: We did eat at mainly TS restaurants on our last trip and we were there for 21 nights and I honestly don't remember any desserts, so if I had one it was not that exciting. The brownie on the other hand was delicious and that became my daily sweet treat.

I have travelled and do travel a lot all around the world and WDW is the BEST place I have ever been when it comes to allergies. It is somewhere I really don't worry beforehand about where I will eat or doing research because I know when I am there, I just mention my allergy and it will be looked after and taken seriously (well I do look at restaurant menus and decide wether I will eat there or not).

Enjoy your trip :goodvibes

My daughter is often served a fruit bowl and some divvies cookies or brownies at the table service restaurants - the regular desserts are generally off-limits to her. We load her up with dole whips to compensate, and I always bring home-baked treats as well.

Fortunately, dd loves fruit and I avoid the rich desserts since she has to, which saves my diet. ;)

Aside from the Divvies and brownies, my kids were able to eat the pre-packaged rice krispie treats (not the ones in the cases at Goofy's DTD) during our trip last year. Double check the label, because the warnings can change at any time. At Mama Melrose, my daughter got a wonderful flourless chocolate cake for dessert that wasn't on the regular men and at Coral Reef she was able to order the Wave. The soft serve ice cream and chocolate syrup at Hollywood and Vine was also safe. At Chef Mickey dinner, the chef personally served the kids enormous platters with Divvies, brownies, Oreo cookies and gummies. A lot of the restaurants only offered fruit salad, which was fine, because my kids love fruit.

I just want to double-check - were these items deemed safe for peanut and tree nut allergies? If so, that will be so cool; we are planning to eat at both Mama Melrose and Coral Reef on this trip. :thumbsup2

Yes, they were safe for pn/tn allergies. The Wave didn't have all the regular garnishes. My daughter got extra berry garnishes instead. Hopefully they are still safe for your trip. :goodvibes

While the regular desserts on the menu usually aren't safe for PN/TN, we've had similar experiences to the previous posters where a chef will make an extra special dessert for our child with Divvies and ice cream, sprinkles, etc. such as a very cool presentation of an ice cream sandwich, etc. I'm sure what they do is somewhat age-appropriate. Seems very hit or miss with the chefs. Sometimes I have to suggest and prod them to do something besides plain vanilla ice cream.

We do have more problems at CS, where we usually have to sub fruit for the dessert. I usually carry extra desserts either brought from the room or Divvies for those times. I think you can call a few days ahead to the CS location (or TS) and make sure that they have Divvies on hand, but I'm not sure if people have much success with that.
