We are hopeing to be able to afford a Disneyland trip in mid to late Jan. Since I also have family in the area, we usually need 12-14 days to get in enough time at the DLR and also with family. The only way to swing it would be to stay at least half of the time at the Peacock Suites. My MIL would trade into it with points for us for our Christmas present. Then we would only have to swing 5 - 7 nights on our own.
Has anyone stayed here before and have any reviews for me? How far is it from the resort? Our last two trips we stayed at the DLH so we did not need to consider driving and parking or taking the ART. Which would be the better choice? Thanks in advance for any info!

Stayed there before. Way too far to walk to DL, so you need to take a shuttle. Check with the hotel to see if they have one.

I would take the ART. My mom's timeshare trades for there too, and we pass it everytime on the way into the resort. It is not super far, but too far to do over and over, especially with kids. And no reason too since ART drops off right there. I have heard great reviews on it, it seems to be clean and comfy. Hope it all works out for you!

We stayed at Peacock Inn and Suites in 2003 and we loved it. The rooms were nice and clean. We had six of us and there were two double or queen beds and then also a pull out from the couch. It also had a glass partition with curtains that seperated the room into two areas so that the kids could go to bed and we could watch tv. We did walk to DL a couple times, we had 9 kids with us between the ages of 3 and 13 and they all made the walk fine but we did use ART most of the time.

We really liked the hotel and are planning on staying there next spring.

We stayed there in 2001. I wouldn't stay there again though. It is a good walk to the park especially after the park closes and is dark. I would say about a 1/2 mile. (The hotel said 2 blocks) Also, when we stayed there there were no resturants around the hotel, they were either closed for repairs etc, or just closed. The hotel didn't have its own resturant. The hotel its self was nice and if it weren't for the farther walk to the park and the resturant issue we might stay there again. It was clean and the rooms were nice. Since we stayed there so long ago it might have changed alot. We have just found hotels that we like just as much that are closer with eating around them. Hope this helps!

We own the timeshare there and have stayed there multiple times a year. Over the past couple years the hotel has really improved from what it used to be. Still I am not sure if we would stay there if we did not own the timeshare. The rooms themselves are nice. This past time we stayed in the rooms with a king bed and a sofa bed, which seemed to be a lot nicer than the rooms with 2 beds for some reason. The room included things such as a cd-radio alarm clock, microwave, fridge, and now wireless internet. I do not believe that the little bus/tram systems are worth it, because they stop at multiple hotels so they are often full and it takes forever, and I believe you have to buy tickets to use the transporation too (but I have not used it for a while so I could be wrong). It is too far to walk so we usually drive. The biggest problem with this hotel is parking!!! If you make it back too late there are barely enough spaces, especially ones that a suburban can fit into. That is always the most frustrating part of the hotel. The pool and two hot tubs are just ok, however they are covered, so you do not have to worry about getting sunburned. There is a free breakfast which we usually just take back to our room--cereal, little muffins, sweet rolls, and toast. You can rent video game systems and vhs movies in the lobby. Since it is a timeshare they may try to get you to go to one of thier selling sessions. If the parking does not bother you, the hotel is pretty good overall, but that always seems to be a really big issue for us. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you everyone for the info.

Miss Scarlet,

Exactly how bad is the parking situation? Another hotel is not an option since it will be a gift from DH's mom as a timeshare exchange. We are planning on being there in Jan. Would parking be such a problem in the off season? We were planning on driving to the parks each day instead of taking the ART. Then we will have more flexibility for sometimes leaving midday for an offsite meal. We are partial to Pick Up Stix. :thumbsup2

How about the comfortabitiy of the beds. I hope they are not very firm. I am used to sleeping on my sleep number bed set quite soft.

Oh, and what else is real near the hotel? Is there a convenience store nearby? If so, how far is it and does it happen to be a 7-11? My DH absolutely LOVES  slurpies which he cannot even get here in MN so he makes up for it on vacation! LOL

Thanks for your help.

Jackie

Yes there is a 7-11 quite close, I got a Crystal Light Lemonade one there, one morning.
