Does Disney allow you to pay your balance with a Disney gift card? My birthday is coming up, and my family has hinted about giving me gift cards to help with a trip. I just didn't know their policy since I'm assuming it could get messy refunding the money if we had to cancel. Thanks

Yes, they do allow you to pay with gift cards. But if you book a package and cancel, the refund will go back to the gift cards.

A good option is to combine your gift cards online. There is a $1000 maximum per card. That way if you need a refund, there will be fewer cards to manage. I get $50 or $100 GC at my grocery store, combine them online, and use one to pay off my room reservation before I go, and another to pay off my room charges while I am there.

No matter how you book it if you get a refund it will go back to the gift card you paid with. It gets messy if you throw out the gift card so don't do that. (And if you do, ultimately after jumping through many hoops they will send your money back to you on another disney gift card, they will never refund you in anything else.) Now, if you pay part on a credit card or something and part on a gift card the refund will be distributed equivalent to each payment method, what was paid via gift card goes back on the gift card what was paid via credit/debit will got back to the credit/debit card.

Therefore, if you get a collection of Disney cards go to disneygiftcard.com and combine them onto one card. Then pay with that card towards your trip and tuck it away somewhere in case you have to cancel.

Another advantage of having cards registered on Disneygiftcard.com is the ability to transfer funds between cards immediately. So if you lose one in the park you can go online and transfer the money that was on it to another card you have. I think that is a great feature! I've never had to use it but I leave a card with low balance on there in case I need to transfer to it.

This is all good information, thank you all! I'm glad to know there is a site to allow you to combine them. I have several smaller amount gift cards and can only imagine myself losing them somehow during the trip, but combining them will help with that. Thank you all!
