Paying the Dolphin in advance

Dolphin experts,

I have a question about paying the Dolphin off in advance of my arrival. In the past, I have made 3 payments to the disney resort I had planned on staying (deposit, middle payment and final payment) well in advance of my arrival. This year I plan on staying at the Dolphin and made the one night deposit on my credit card and I want to pay the balance off in 2 other payments. Unfortunately when I talked to Melissa I could not get a clear answer from her if I could do this or not. I understand the the "final" payment is not always final because of little extras that needed to be put in the bill, but I want to have the bulk paid off before I get there. Has anyone else had a problem with paying off the Dolphin before arrival?

Why not take that money and buy travelers checks and just pay it when you arrive? That way if there is an emergency and you have to cancel, you don't have to wait for them to credit back your card (which they have up to 30 days to do) you can deposit the travelers checks in your checking account and have the money available the next day.

I guess I never did understand the idea of paying everything off in advance. I'm not saying this is wrong, but I like to keep my money in my hand (and my bank account earning interest) for as long as I can.

I have paid off our room portion in the past with no problems. I won't be this time so I can collect starpoints for using my AmEx The payment shows up as a credit on your bill--you can keep up with it on the TV screen in the room.

I am staying at the Swan and I take travelers
checks and pay my bal. at check-in. The only
extra fee that I had was the $10.00 resort fee,
that I could not get out of. Bummer, didn't use
any resort extras, but they wouldn't waive the
fee. Sept here we come, can't wait.
