paying someone with quest kiosk

lock up your room so nobody but the person you are trading with can enter

then make a quest with a single task. make it a secret word is a good idea, that you can pm them on here.

have the prize be the amount you wanted to trade ;)

That's a good idea, too. I didn't even think of the whole PMing someone the answer idea. What I normally do is something similar, but with a slight difference. I have the task be a question which right now is "What is my favorite Disney movie?" So that the person has to ask me for the answer so that not just anyone can pass the quest if I stupidly forget to close up the room to the general public.

I'll add another tip for trading credits you might want to consider. This is kind of obsessive, but I don't want to break any vmk rules, so I'm extra careful about trading credits through my quest kiosk.

I remember reading somewhere on the vmk site (maybe it was when the quest kiosks first came out, I don't recall exactly where/when), that you can't ask people to pay to do your quest. So....I always trade the credits (via a quest) to the recipient BEFORE they trade their item to me.

Does that make sense? I hope so. With all the elaborate, thought-out scams going on in vmk now, I don't want to leave myself vulnerable that somebody may report me for making them pay (because they traded their item to me first) to do my quest. I also take on the added risk that the other person will skip out before the trade is completed, but trading credits is kind of risky any way you look at it.

Yeah, that's the only problem with doing it that way. You have to be sure you're trading with someone you trust before you do that.

I always let people have the credits first, but that's only because I only trade with people I know I can trust.

You should also add a rope diver or gate to the entrance to your room and another around your kiosk. When you open your room, all your friends can come in.

I just open my room to friends and let the person I want in come through the gate, if another of my friends comes in I tell them I am trading and ask them to plz leave. I never open my rope divider until only the person or persons I want to trade with are alone.

And never set your quest kiosk until you close the room and you are alone with whom you are trading with. If you have it set and the room is open, anybody can start the quest while you are in a trade window.

Just a side not- it is NEVER a good idea to trade credits. You could even be banned/get a warning from staff: and here's what happened to make me sure.

I was in a room: Looking for sparrow (or inferno or something). They were giving a ton of credits, so this person comes in and says they will do it. He has them go next to the kiosk and ropes it off, and right then VMK_Eagle comes in. He yells at both of them, and I am not sure if they got a warning/ban, but I know staff do not want you to do it.

Oh .. I had no idea it was against any rules

Isn't offering a shopping spree just as risky? I mean you buy all the stuff they want, and what if they back out of the deal? The more I hear about the pitfalls of trading the scarier it becomes. It is sad that lack of trust is such an issue, when it should just be a given. :sad2:

You can also let your friend in and then change room to myself only. It will let that one person stay till they leave then they cannot get back in till you change the room again

I guess they want us to use it for quests only Nothing More Nothing Less!!!:sad2:

that is not quite right. There was a newsletter that said they prefer you do not trade credits via kiosk. They never said it was against the vmk values or that any punishment of any sort would result. I don't know of a single player ever banned or warned for it.

Yep. I've never seen where it is against the rules to trade credits. I've only seen where they just disappove of using the kiosks for that purpose.

They say that only because of the possibilities of scams happening.

As for the "cannot pay to do quests". That will change whenever the Epcot gates come out. They've already said that people can charge to let people in their rooms to do quests when this happens. Which is why they've made it possible for people to view the quest and prizes without actually going further than the doorway.

Trading credits is very risky, so whenever I do trade, I keep it on the down low. VMK has stated somewhere that they don't want you to use the quest kiosk as a system of trading credits, mostly for the fact that they don't want more scams. I have a few friends who I can trust and know that they are always trading/buying credits, so I trade them. I've never traded people who are not on my list since it is easy to get scammed trading credits.
