Planning a trip for June 09. DS will be 10 and now a Disney adult. Since we are purchasing an adult dining plan for him, can we pay oop for the meals that it would not be worth it. He will eat kid's meals at some places. Is there any issue with some of us using credits and paying oop for him.

No issue, but you must tell your server so that they can split the checks and they won't ring him up as being on DDP.

You will get x number of credits for him to use. It is fine to pay oop for some meals, but it is not a good value if you will have dining credits left over at the end of the trip. You'll want to find a way to use them.

We just returned yesterday from 6 nights at Disney. We did just what you are asking. Our daughter is 10 and eats like a bird. We did not feel that using a table service credit for her at places like Le Cellier would be worth it so we just told our server we'd be using the Dining Plan for us and paying for hers charged to our room. There was never an issue no matter where we did it. We used all of our credits as we also went to Cinderella's Royal Table which is 2 credits per person. Just do a bit of planning and it will work out.

Just a note - we found it best for us to share a counter service meal (my daughter and I) and my husband got his own. Used leftover counter service at Captain Cook's at the Poly for Tonga Toast. Yummy!

We do this all the time. Just tell your server what you are paying out of pocket for.

We did this twice, once at Chefs de France because my 9 year old wanted an adult croque monsieur and then again at 50s Prime Time when we had an extra child's meal to use (we paid OOP for the rest of the meal but used up his credit on the kid's meal there).

Anyway, do tell your server. I would tell them ahead of time and then make sure the check gets done properly. Both of the servers told me that it took a bit of work for them to get it right--I'm not sure what that meant or why but tend to believe it since they both said it, but they were able to do it in the end.
