Paying on room charges

We've done several cruises, but this time I'm thinking about paying on the room charges before the end of the cruise. How can this be done? I'll be putting a credit card on account, but can I transfer some of the charges to another card? Or, is it possible to have more than one credit card per cabin: one KTTW card on one account, and another KTTW card on another.

Each KTTW card can be tied to an individual credit card.

It is also possible to pay off or place a payment on an account at any time during the cruise. Take the cash, trav. cheques, credit card, Visa Rewards card, or whatever you plan to use to Guest Services. Tell them the room number and the name on the KTTW account that you are paying. They sometimes ask you for a birthdate as a security check. You can make a payment on any KTTW in your cabin with no problems. I'm equally sure you can do it on a child's account in another cabin, but have no personal experinece with this.

Thanks for the quick reply - I think I'll do the each KTTW card has it's own credit card - that way I'll be sure to pay what charges are mine. By doing this, I won't be so concerned about paying it during the cruise.

I believe you will be limited to the use two credit card accounts per cabin

I have only read this in the guide books :confused3

FYI...every time you check your room charges, the current balance will get charged at that time to the card. So if you are planning on using your balance of traveler's checks or cash at the end, make sure you have a balance left to pay towards.

Let me explain...on our cruise, I made sure I checked our account on day 2 as well as do the tips I knew I would charge (I already had extra cash in envelopes as well). This was a great way to do it as no one was there and I could get it done quickly (and make sure there wasn't anything that wasn't mine on there!). On our last day at sea, I went to add $200 in traveler's checks that I had not used on our trip towards our account...well, it gave me a balance of +200 instead of taking it off my credit card on file. I was able to use it up b/w the stores, the braiding and the drink of the day ;) but was surprised that they would not apply it to already charged stuff. I hope my explanation makes sense.

I should be okay with the 2 credit cards. I probably should have explained in more details in the beginning. It will be my aunt and myself in the cabin. I will be more comfortable being able to charge on my own credit card; if I feel like a drink of the day, I'll have it, etc. Thanks for all the explanations.

After your balance gets to a certain amount (it was around $800 for us), the credit card on the account will be automatically billed (I wonder if that is what happened with challada, I have never heard of the card being billed every time you checked the balance). Just make sure if you want to pay by some other means, you do so before the $800 mark. I would check with guest services to verify the limit.

I agree....I also never heard of them charging the balance each time you check your balance....I have checked it all during the cruises we have taken and not found that to be true....DCL does, indeed, charges your CC card on file when your account gets to a certain amount....I thought it was more like $400 for the 7 day cruise and around $200 for the 3 or 4 day cruises....each time you hit that amount again, it charges to your card again.

Nope...I never hit the 800 mark, nor the 400 mark. I was told when I check it that it would get charged at that time to my account. I didn't care as it was going to go on the card anyway, but I was shocked when I couldn't apply the cash towards the previous charge. I was less than thrilled by the service at the guest service counter on several matters, so my opinion of those couple of snotty girls I dealt with is not too high. I am guessing they might not have known what the h*** they were doing and that is why I got charged each time I checked the account.

On our cruises when we hit a certain mark we were charged - not when we checked our account. We checked our account a great deal because we had some rearranging going on between our families staterooms.

Does anyone know?

Do you have to put down a credit card or can you just use cash, travelers checks. or disney dollars?

I marked the pay in cash box on the cruise docs.
I had $350 in stateroom credits and when I got close to that mark I was asked to come down and put down around $400 (I can't remember how much exactly). At the end of the cruise I paid the balance due (around $80.00) in cash.

Not a problem - I always travel with my Mom and we each have our own accounts/cards/charges.

I have seen many remarks that you can not use Disney Dollars on board.

I hope someone says this is not true!!! I have Disney Dollars that I plan on using on my shipboard account. I was told that you can use them toward your account. Please someone clarify this for us? :confused3
