DH bought me the anniv. band I have had my eye on for a while now. He had to leave it to be sized and just noticed on the receipt the charge for sizing ...$80. I can't believe you can spend that much on a ring and they charge you for sizing. Has anyone experienced this?

Are they making it bigger, or smaller. I know where I work, in the fine jewelry dept, they charge too.

I would assume it's probably a mistake and call them. If they insist it's not a mistake, I'd be livid and make every better business bureau threat in the book LOL

They are making your ring smaller, and charging you for it. And I have to assume they are also keeping the gold they take out of it. Oh, I'd take it somewhere else.

Wait, I just called and was told it was for the extended warranty....which we never said we wanted. So confused. I love this ring, don't want to feel "taken". Saleswoman wasn't in...will talk to her Tues. when we pick it up. The store promises a lifetime gurantee, so not sure what this extended warranty is even covering.

I wouldn't think they would charge you. It is probably a mistake. I got a new ring for my b-day and the jeweler enlarged it for not problem. I wouldn't pay it without a good strong argument.

Ask them if it is for a replacement waranty. I have one on my wedding set. They will resize and do whatever necessary for no charge for a lifetime. I need to have the stones inspected every 6 months & they will replace the stones if they pop out too. One of the smallest ones did...just a little speck of a diamond...and it would have cost $100.00 to replace.

Helzburg has free ring sizing, you have to get your ring checked every 6 months .

I've never had to pay for the sizing of a ring that was bought from a store. As in, if I bought it and it needed sized before I could even wear it, they did it for free! I'd never buy from a store that charged me to size a ring since I have small hands and a 7 doesn't fit the vast majority of my fingers (I'm about a 4.5 to 5 on my ring finger).

I'd call and find out what that was for, or if it was for the extended care or not.

I bought a pink tormuline ring from Shaws earlier this year. It was about $350, the warranty was $50 if I wanted it, which I thought was excessive. It included lifetime sizing, any repairs needed. I didn't buy it, they charged me $5 to size it down.

My boyfriend bought me a promise ring last year and we had to pay to have it sized down. The setting was a clear austrailian topaz with two little diamonds on each side and it's from J.C. Penney's. It cost us $15 to get them to size it down from a 7.5 to a 4.
