Paying for Disney World

I have been going back and forth between staying at a Disney hotel (Beach Club or Coronado) or staying at the Dolphin. The price obviously is the biggest thing, but I did read somewhere that you can pay off the trip in increments. How exactly would you go about this? I tried looking up more info but couldn't find a clear answer. If this is possible, I think it could make booking the Beach Club a little bit more reasonable if I pay it off over time.

When are you planning on going? Have you been to Disney before now and stayed in any of the hotels?

Are you planning on a package deal or are you doing your room only, buying tickets separately - you can get a discount with Undercover Tourist - paying for food out of pocket or looking to use the dining plan? Room only requires one night paid and then the rest is due 5-6 days before you arrive. Do you know that you can get discounted Disney gift cards to use to pay for food, tickets and room at Disney?

So Disney requires a $200 deposit. Payment is not due in full until 30 days before travel. In between that time, you can make payments online or by phone if you’d like! Minimum payment is $20 each time. Hope that helps! I have clients that pay weekly or once a month.

You have to call to make a payment on a room only reservation. The only time you can make the payment/deposit online is when you make the booking. It's the one thing about room only that drives me nuts. But most of the phone reps are good.

Trip is in late May. I stayed at the Contemporary in 2004 and in All Star Movies in 2015.

I am willing to pay room and tickets separately, as long as I can still chip away at the balance. I would take a much bigger financial hit if I paid it all up front. And no, I am not interested in using the dining plan. We were probably going to budget a certain amount of money and put it on a gift card to help budget food.

Anytime you book outside of Disney (Orbitz, Undercover Tourist, etc.) they require full payment on the spot for hotels and tickets. However, you can usually get a better hotel price this way. Book on the Disney special offers website the hotel/tickets and leave a $200 deposit. You are then considered having a package and can go into your account and pay as little ($20) or as much as you want and whenever you want to bring down the balance.

So even if I only buy the hotel from Disney and not the tickets (or vise versa), I can still pay it off overtime with them?

You have to buy both hotel and tickets from Disney at the same time to create a package in order to pay it off overtime. Deposit is $200 and then you can go online and pay off as much as you like as often as you like. The package cost has to be paid off 30 days before arrival. If you buy tickets only from Disney they have to be paid off 100% at time of purchase. If you buy hotel only from Disney you have to pay the cost of one night. Disney will tell you the amount to be paid. The rest of the balance of the hotel stay does not have to be paid until check-in. To do additional payments to Disney on a hotel only booking you have to call in and tell the rep. you want to make a payment.

Any time you buy tickets separate from a room+tickets package, you will have to pay in full for the tickets at the time of purchase. This is true whether buying the tickets directly from Disney or via a third-party authorized reseller.

if you book a hotel room direct thtough Disney, you can make payments. Room-only booking or a package. The deposit for a room-only booking is equal to 1 night stay, with the balance due at check-in - but you can call to make payments at any/multiple points between booking and arrival. The deposit tor a package is $200 with the balance due 30 days prior to arrival - and you may make payments online or by phone at any/multiple points between booking and the final due date.

Enjoy your vacation!

there's a free dining promotion going on now if your dates are flexible.

And as a side note, cruises work this way too. You pay a deposit at booking and then pay as you choose as long as you're paid 90 (I think) days before departure. This is sometimes why you'll see cruised booked out 2 years from now....more time to pay. :)

Some AMEX cards also have a "plan it" feature where you can schedule a charge to be paid out over 3 months, 6 months, or a year in equal increments. If your credit and payment history are good enough, this can be done with no fees or interest.

You could get the Disney Premier Visa. That offers 6 months 0% financing on Disney vacation packages and would give you a $200 credit on your statement. There is a $49 dollar annual fee.

My current trip (Feb 2020) is room only and I made a payment on the phone without even talking to anyone. They have an automated voice system that works really well. We made the reservation with the 1-night deposit (which I paid with giftcards that I purchased from Target for 5% off) and then after I purchased more giftcards (various discounts) I paid it off over the phone. Now I'll be buying more giftcards to pay for food/souvenirs!

Actually, if you use a referral link of a current cardholder you can get the no annual fee card with the $200 statement credit (on $500 spend in the first 3mo). That's a way better deal since then you don't have the annual fee! The 0% financing is a good option and sometimes they run discounts for cardholders only (I know last year they did at some point)!

They do charge a small fee, but no interest.

Unless something has changed you get only zero interest on packages.
with the Disney Visa, but if your booking far in advance you wouldn’t need this just make payments online.

If you are only getting a room through Disney (and not a package) you pay the first night at time of booking and then the remainder of the balance at check-in. You don't have to pay the entire bill at booking.

This plan has really helped us out, we buy disney giftcards from sams at discount then apply to the account. There are 3 card packs avab. 500/150/75

I just did a plan it that had no fee and no interest. Not entirely sure why it let me do that, but it is possible.
I did get an email that they offering no-fee plans for a period of time. I also got an email about no-fee plans for Universal packages. I did check it out over the Summer and there was a fee. It was small enough that it wouldn't deter me from doing a plan if I needed to.
