Paying for dining plan for others

Hi..I am headed to the treehouses in January with hubby's family and we are doing the dining plan. I know we will have to pay the whole DDP amount at check in..but we are arriving prior to the rest of the family. Will they allow me to pay the whole amount with my credit card upon arrival and then refund half so that my sil/bil can pay for their portion or will his family have to write me a check/cash and I pay with my CC. thanks.

I don't think that they will do a refund. Have the family write you a check before the trip so you can deposit it before you leave town. After the vacation, people seem to have trouble paying.

Have you called DVC member services or even SSR to ask this question. I assume you are all staying in one Treehouse. But I know that they allow people to place different credit cards on different room keys in the same accomodation. Is it possible that they don't get their room keys until they check in and that is when they would pay for their dining plan? Isn't each dining plan on the separate cards or will all the dining plan credits be on all of your cards? I would at least give MS a call and see if they know the answer.

the dining credits are all pooled together and you have to pay for it on arrival.

I think I will ask for a check prior to departure..that is a good idea. thanks.

Actually, MS will only take one credit card to secure room charges per villa. You can designate some guests to have no charge privileges, or settle the bill together at the end at check out. However, if you exceed a certain charge limit, the resort will charge the accrued amounts to the credit card at that certain point. In that case, the individuals would need to pay you back directly.

They might. When I did online check in this summer, I put my CC in, not realizing they would charge the DP to it. I had planned to pay for it with my Disney Reward Card.

When I got there, I told them I wanted to switch and it wasn't a problem. They refunded my credit card and then processed it with the Disney Rewards card. I was doing a split stay so at the last resort, I didn't have quite enough reward points left to cover the whole cost, so they took what I had and processed the rest on my CC.

So, there is a possibility that they will refund your card and then reprocess with both cards.

Is this different at DVC resorts? I know when we went with my inlaws one year they were able to split to have two different credit cards in their one room. We stayed with them at BWV and POFQ so I can't remember which one allowed them to do that?
