Paying for DDP?

Has anyone payed for the DDP before arriving at the resort? I called and was told I had to pay upon arrival but I really wanted to get it out of the way before hand.
Does anyone know why they do this?

I'm assuming you are staying at a DVC property on points? You can only pay for the DDP upon check in.

If you purchase it as part of a package through the WDTC, you pay off the package 45 days in advance.
