As our october trip to disneyland is an early birthday treat for my daughter (her actual birthday will be just over a week away but can't go then as she has dancing competitions) I would like to purchase a birthday cake and also book a birthday party with the characters.

What would you suggest to have the birthday cake with the birthday character party (does this make it more special or not) OR have it arranged for possibly getting it during our booking at the lucky nugget saloon.

Do guests who have booked for a birthday cake get an special treatment or are all guests in the character party treated the same?

I've seen birthday cakes being presented at the character tea party, and Cafe Mickey.

At both, the birthday boy/girl gets presented with the birthday cake along to birthday music, and all the characters come around the birthday girl/boys table to dance along to the music. This is an individual thing - ie if there are 3 birthdays being celebrated, each cake comes out one at a time, and only one table at a time gets the characters etc dancing. Then maybe 10 minutes later another, then another, until all the birthday boys/girls have had their cake (plus pressie at the character tea party) and special time with the characters.

so would you say the kids (and adults ) who get a birthday cake get more special treatment that the none cake buyers??????

Yes as you can tell I want our moneys worth lmao.

I had my birthday cake at Cafe Mickey and all i can say is WOW.
The characters came to the table and danced and made a big fuss out of me. It was really nice and so amusing.

I will be taking DD back in September for her early Birthday treat and will definatley be getting her a birthday cake :)

Yes they do - but thats only right, as they're paying extra for the cake :goodvibes !

Having said that, at every character meal I've been to, every single character has visited every single table and spent time with everyone there, you get pictures, autographs, hugs etc, so everyone gets special time with the characters at all the character meals. (we couldn't get rid of Goofy when we went to the Lucky Nugget, he came round for hugs so many times - not that we were complaining :rotfl: ).

awwww, you gotta love the Goof:cloud9: :)

Don't expect to get the remainder of the cake to take home with you. Last week we were presented with our cake at the Princess Lunch, it was then taken away and a slice each was brought to us (3 slices in total).

However, when we asked for the remainder to take away we were told by the manager that "the cake is sensitive" :confused3 and that the remainder would be thrown away.

€22 for 3 slices of cake is a bit much, especially as we ordered it so we could get a candle and have the CM's and Princesses sing happy birthday to my Lucy. This they did but a few mins later the same happended to the table next to us where the normal desert was brought out with a candle in it!

We have sinced complained to DLRP about this.

Didn't spoil the meal though, which was a fantastic experience.

Thats weird, i asked for the rest of my cake to be boxed up and they did it and i brought it home with me and then ate the rest :rotfl:

You do get the whole cake, or whatevers left, to take away with you at the character tea party.
You don't pay 22euros for the cake there, but you do pay an extra 5 euros I believe, per person in your party, to have the character birthday tea party.
They don't take the cake away to slice it either there - the young ladies at the table next to us had a birthday tea party, there were only the 2 of them, so they sliced pieces of their cake and gave them to us, and then when they left, they got the rest of the cake boxed up by the waitress to take with them.

:confused3 Er, excuse me, but it's a cake.....??? :confused3 Even if it was a fresh cream gateau it shouldn't go off that quickly that you couldn't take it away.

How annoying, glad you didn't let it spoil your time there. :wizard:
