pay for dining meals with gift card?

sorry , i tried to find this, can i use the gift card to pay for meals at resorts and theme park restaraunts?

Yes, you can use gift cards or reward dollars at any TS.

There have been reports that some CS cannot take them, though.

We only use Visa gift cards (just regular ones we are given as gifts) to pay for our meals at Disney World. Table service and counter service. There are a few kiosk type places that don't take them but those are few and far between.

I've never tried to use a gift card to pay for anything, but on our last trip, we had a $200 gift card that we applied to our room charges. So you could just charge everything to your room and then use the gift cards to pay it off. Assuming you're staying on site, that is.

What is "the gift card" that you are talking about? In most cases, if a food service area takes CCs then they can also take Disney gift cards.

If you are referring to the Fun card you can receive in lieu of a day's pass into a park on your birthday (passholders and multi-day ticket holders), Disney's FAQs state:

A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket* for you to use for certain purchases including select merchandise, recreation or tour experiences, or for Disney's PhotoPass® on-site services at participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort;

... not a very good answer I know, but I'm not reading "food" in there so I'm not counting on it. I'd like to know for sure too.

i am talking about the gift cards you can buy in malls in disney stores.
that way, i get a gift i really want, and can add to the balance if i want to.

I used a Disney gift card to pay for portions of our DDP meals that were not included in the DDP, as well as at all of the kiosks during the Food & Wine Festival. We also used them at kiosks for ice cream snacks during the days.
