Okay, I made it yesterday, small individuals in ramekins... and my son and uncle gobbled it down.

Took one to work and they're dying over it. :yay::dance3:

It's truly ... a sin before God. :cloud9:

One spoonful has GOT to be all the calories you need for a week! :lmao:

Has anyone tried the PUMPKIN one? I'd like to make it for Thanksgiving!

I tried the pumpkin one, and although people swear by it, it was a bit too "gooey" for my taste. The original makes me swoon, as does the lemon.

Yep we made the pumpkin one last Thanksgiving. mmmmmm but it definately is a once a year treat.
Maybe it'll be Chocolate this year.

Not Fair!! you CANNOT write a post like that without a link!!!:yay:

It is on the Food Network website listed under Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake. I can't post it because I don't have enough posts yet - sorry. It has over 1,800 reviews!

And for those of you who really love the stuff, an entire store devoted to Gooey Butter Cake -- and yes, they make pumpkin as a special this time of year.

PS: I should note that I actually don't care for gooey butter cake. It's commonly considered a "local taste" here; a lot of transplants don't much like it, but locals tend to defend it to the death. DH is a native and loves it, but our kids don't much care for it, either.

You know, I made one of those gooey butter cakes after reading rave reviews, and it just sat here until I threw it out. Too greasy and gooey for our taste.

Am I the only one?

Wow, mine is not greasy at all. Gooey yes, but caramel type gooey, like a melted snicker bar! I hate greasy, I wouldn't deal with that at all.

Not at all. I just tossed about 3/4 of the pumpkin one that I'd made for a t'giving party. Not that it was greasy, just way too sweet. I think if you did the filling in some type of a pie crust (maybe a graham cracker one like a cheesecake?), it would be good. No one really liked it.

Ditto here, nobody in my house liked it. I haven't tried any of the others but lemon is my favorite so I may have to.

That pumpkin cake is yummy! But definitely a little bit goes a long way. You really only want to eat a small square of it.

the pumpkin was very good but too sweet, the second time I cut down on the sugar, or cake mix I can't remember which and it was perfect.

Nope, I'm right there with you. I made the original one and while I don't remember thinking that it was greasy, I just thought it was completely icky.

I have had the Sweet Potato one at her restruant....YUMMY!

Me, too! I was just fixing to post this. I wasn't too sure about the sweet potato but it was soooo good!
