We are going to Disney in July and I really want to try to sign my dad to participate in the flag lowering ceremony in MK. Could someone please design something for me. He was in the Air Force. Thank you so much. I really hope I can pull this off because I know it will mean the world to him.

I think Michelle has one of a Mickey saluting in front of a flag. If you don't find it in her thread I can personalize one for you. Please let me know what wording you would like.

I really love the Mickey flag design you posted. Thanks for the info about Michelle. I looked in her photobucket and found this one. I would like either one to say "Proud To Serve". If you aren't able to personalize Michelle's that's fine. I'll take either one.

Can you ask Michelle to personalize this one for you if you like this one? and I'll do another one later today!

I love the last one. I think it looks great just the way it is. Thank you so much for helping me with this.

I have to ask.....How did you find out about this and what is required to be involved? My DH is active duty Navy and would love to do this while we're there. TIA!

You have to sign up at the MK at Guest Relations/Expositin Hall. I've heard to go early in your trip so you have a better chance of a day being available. Everyday at 5:00 (I think) they have a veteran of the day. The band plays and they lower the flag and fold it. The veteran then walks behind the band and carries the flag. They are given a veteran of the day pin, a cetificate and they have their picture taken. I have never seen it but I have heard so many great things about it. It's supposed to be very moving.

I wonder if you have to be a veteran? I wonder if they would take someone that's active duty? I guess I'll have to find out when we get there. Thanks for the info!

I'm pretty sure they take active duty or veterans. I don't know why they wouldn't. :) Good luck. I hope your husband gets to do it.:goodvibes

They do take active duty and it is the most moving ceremony I have ever watched. My nephew is a Captain in the army and a person from these boards who lives in Orlando put his name in for me. It is so wonderfu.. He daughter was part of the group that did the Pledge before they lowered the flag. Did I mention it was beautiful :goodvibes & i cried non stop :rolleyes1 .
If you can sign up for this, it is a must do for any active or retired service person. :cloud9:

Kari, the first one you did, it looks as tho the flag is flowing..I have tears just looking at it, and to think that I have watched the flag lowering ceremony and never understood about the person carrying the flag after it was folded..yes, it was very moving...and teary:angel: pixiedust:
