Angelina Jolie to play Kay Scarpetta
The actress' interest in the popular series by Patricia Cornwell got the ball rolling after many years of starts and stops.

All you Patricia Cornwell fans, what do you think? The article does state it will not be one of the already written books, but a written for film screenplay based on the Scarpetta character in her younger years, starting out.

Knowing that, it might be neat to see how she plays the role. But who would you want to see playing Kay Scarpetta from the already written books on the big screen? I don't see Angelina in that role, someone a little older, not sure who though. Thoughts?

It's really hard to say when ever they make a book into a movie they change it so muich. It's really hard to tell how they might change her character.

I've read the books but I wouldn't have thought of Angelina for the role...hmm I'm not sure how I will feel about that.

I agree...She fits the role of Lucy more than Kay. Not who I picture her as. More of the lady who starred in Murder She Wrote type character.

I love Patricia Cornwell and her books. I am not sure I will want to see this movie though. I am not a huge Angelina Jolie fan but she is really not who I would pick to play Kay Scarpetta. I see her more as Kay's niece Lucy.

I see Maria Bello as Lucy, but I guess she might be too old now.

But I'd NEVER pick Jolie for that role. I think Joan Allen would be a perfect Scarpetta.

i'm the biggest patricia cornwell/kay scarpetta fan you'll find, and i can tell you right now, i won't be watching a film with angelina jolie playing scarpetta. she just doesn't fit the role.

I totally do not get Angelina Jolie as the young Kay Scarpetta at all! And I think she would be too old for Lucy in those early days.

I dont have a suggestion but not Angelina that is for sure!

Kay Scarpetta, I could see Ali Larter, Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry. I can't see A.J. as Kay Scarpetta at all.


I could see Jennifer Garner as Lucy, Natalie Portman, or Ashley Greene.

Yes, but Angelina Jolie will bring in the customers, Jodie Foster/Joan Allen/Edie Falco will not, it's all in who you can put in the seats.

I do agree though, that I wouldn't have cast Miss Jolie as this character, but I think she can pretty much have any role she wants in Hollywood.
