We are interested in going to trader sams for some apps and drinks. We will be with my inlaws, DH, twin boys 12 and DD 4. I have seen plenty of youtube videos of the inside bar and it looks so neat, interesting but probably a little loud for our group.
We are fine with the patio but was wondering do you walk through the bar to get to the patio?
does the patio have a separate entrance?

Basically i know our party would love to check out the bar area but we don't need to sit in there.

I peeked into Trader Sam's also. No windows, kinda on the dark, and on the tiny side but great use of space given the limitations. I entered from the GHC entrance closest to the marina.
No you don't have to pass through the bar to enter the terrace. Pretty sure the terrace is accessed from the outside near the Volcano pool. Just recalled that I heard great music and sounds of merriment from the terrace:).

The patio does have a separate entrance. When we went in to see about being seated and were told they were full, we were directed to the separate patio entrance. We didn't go through the bar.

Trader Sam's is very strict about the number of guests they allow in the bar/lounge. They won't let people just wander through. My advice would be to get there around 3:45/4:00 pm to go in with the first wave of people. You could just, then, look around and leave or sit and order, perhaps one drink so you would be there long enough to see some of the antics. You could then move to the outdoor patio location.

There, unfortunately, is no room for people to be wandering through the bar to check it out. It is literally the size of my living room. I was shocked how tiny it is in there. So go early, while children are still permitted and try to get a seat inside.

I'd also recommend getting there early. The kids will love it! Stay for about 45 minutes to see it all. Be sure to order a drink to trigger the show!

There no longer is live music on the Trader Sam's patio. It was nice while it lasted

OP, you mention thinking the inside will be a little loud for your group. I’d suggest that it’s really the opposite. The inside is so small/so few people, it’s really not loud at all. It’s arguably too small, as I think at times it can feel a little dead inside - even when full.

It is worth going if you can find time though, it’s fun.

Great to know! All the videos we saw seemed to loud, I guess with the smaller crowd it can't be that bad

I guess it’s subjective. It’s not like some he**-raising bar full of loud drunks and crazy people. Some of the effects are loud for short segments. If it’s full of couples vs larger groups, I’ve found it eerily quiet!

Hope you have fun whatever you decide.

If you go during the time that children are allowed, I can't imagine it would be too loud, but I suppose it really depends on the people who are in there.

We have been later at night when there were younger locals celebrating birthdays or other events who were a bit loud. And there are sound effects that go along with some of the drinks, so the more alcohol people are drinking the more often those will go off (and the more excited the guests get about it).

But we have also been within the first hour of opening and there were just a handful of people sitting quietly at their own tables and maybe only one or two of the drinks with "effects" were served.

1) No.
2) It is too crowded to allow people to simply wander around.
3) If you want to see the memorabilia, you need to get into the bar and get a drink.
4) Plus, if it makes a difference, time-wise, there is an age limit for children.

I see no live music...is there piped in music at least? What about inside the bar? It would be weird to be drinking with no music...

There is background music in Trader Sam's. It's not terribly loud, but I enjoy it.
